Ashanti and Nelly Welcome Baby Boy!
Ashanti announced that she and Nelly welcomed their son Kareem Kenkaide last July 18 in an interview with Entertainment Tonight!
Ashanti is officially a mom! The “Foolish” singer confirmed that she has given birth to her and rapper Nelly’s child, a boy named Kareem Kenkaide.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ashanti said Kareem, or KK as they call him arrived last July 18 and they just celebrated his month-old arrival with family and friends and three cakes!
Ashanti also talked about the last minute when Nelly was able to catch up before the arrival of their son.
“Having all of us in the delivery room and seeing his face for the first time, I cried it was just so emotional and spiritual at the same time,” she recalled of that moment.
“Having a vision of this moment for so long…it was such an electrifying feeling.”
How her son changed her
Ashanti isn’t afraid to get real about life as a mom now, saying it’s her son who dictates her routine these days.
“My son definitely dictates everything now, he is the priority overall and I don’t care what it will take, what I have to do, I’m just going to give everything and my all to my son,” she said. “This little boy has my entire soul wrapped around his finger.”
She also shared a photo of her in a disposable diaper. “Funny how life’s plans aren’t…always on time.. lol. I’ve been waiting to be a mom for a long time now but nothing could prepare me for EVERYTHING motherhood brings!”
“I’m so proud of my body for giving me my baby, baby, baby, baby, baby.”
Ashanti first announced her pregnancy in April. Nelly is already a father to two kids, Tre and Nana. He is also a parental figure to his nephew Shawn and niece Sydney after the passing of his sister Jackie Donahue to leukemia in March 2005.
