PHOTOS: We Love Melinda Bam’s Rustic Gender Reveal Party!
We can take some notes on how to hold a classy rustic gender reveal party from beauty queen Melinda Bam.
2011 Miss South Africa winner Melinda Bam dropped a few pictures of her gender reveal party and we’re loving the theme! The mom-to-be went for a classy off-white or cream color and accented them with green for a baby boy and rose for a baby girl. She also used a variety of dried flowers and greens to add a nature-like feel.
How to make your gender reveal party rustic
Melinda Bam’s color palette for the party was very soft on the eyes, using more pale and relaxed colors instead of the usual pink and blue. But the beauty queen shared that she couldn’t take credit for the beauty of the party. This is because it was styled by her younger sister—inspirational speaker Melissa Swart.
True to the rustic and outdoor theme, the gender reveal party made use of neutrals: white and different shades of wood brown. The tables’ centerpieces involved a gentle mix of brown, white, and light green.

She also had some greens to “pop” amidst the neutral colors. This worked so well with the buffet table!
And of course, no gender reveal party would be complete without announcing the gender. With green-colored flares, Mr. and Ms. South Africa 2011 Adriaan and Melinda Bam announced that they are having a baby boy!
Deviating from the usual pink and blue
Most gender reveal parties have the traditional pink and blue—limiting us to themes that allow just the two colors. But pink and blue have several shades that make it possible to have a variety of themes for our gender reveal parties.
