Mother-Child Bonding Tips According to These Influencers

In this day and age, building a connection with children is essential so that they grow up to feel confident and have self-esteem. It also teaches parents how to communicate effectively and lets them model the ability to love themselves. Modern Parenting recently sat down with three moms who shared different tips on how they bond and spend quality time with their kids.

Bonding tips and activities that build connections

“My favorite bonding activity with my daughter is through sports or workouts because we get to connect more in these activities,” says Nicole Wuthrich-De La Cruz. “It is both fun for us and we get to enjoy each other’s company. Also, through these activities, I get to motivate her, I cheer for her, she cheers for me, and she enjoys showing her skills to me, too, which I love.”

Meanwhile, Akiko Centeno bonds with her daughter through swimming. “My daughter and I both love swimming since it’s a fun activity that keeps our bodies active and healthy.”

For Patty Mendoza, dancing is a way for her to bond with her son. “I used to dance back in college and somehow I see myself in him every time we play music and dance together. It could be in the morning or after his usual play time, I’d hear him say, ‘Mama, let’s dance,’ and ask me to blast his favorite BTS songs on repeat. It’s amazing how much fun we have just by dancing and moving around, laughing and singing until we’re all tired and sweaty. I love how dancing also turned out to be our own unique way of connecting with each other.”

The importance of bonding with their children

All three moms highlight the importance of having bonding moments with their children. Patty believes it contributes to the development of kids both socially and emotionally. Knowing that they have a safe and loving home where time and undivided attention are given to them can make a huge difference in their future, too.

“A parent should love all of their children unconditionally and without bias,” affirms Akiko.

Nicole nods in agreement and shares that bonding with her children allows her to communicate with them deeper. “It gives us a strong connection because of the valuable positive attention that is given to them. I noticed that the more time I give to them, the happier they get! They look forward to it! I can see the excitement on their faces! So precious!”

Simple ways to bond with kids

Recently, Nicole, Patty, and Akiko were treated by The Playground to bond with their children. The Playground is a multi-brand children’s store that offers popular and preferred kids’ brands such as Mini Melissa, Freedom Moses, Salt-Water Sandals, Bibi, Tip Toey Joey, Doughnut Bags, Babycare Mats, and Bubblebum Booster Seat.

For all three moms who had their own bonding tips to give, spending time with children doesn’t need to be expensive. “The best gift for them is your time and how creative you can be. We’ve done hide and seek, tag, and some kulitan before bedtime and it means a lot to them already. That’s all it takes to make them happy and make them feel loved!” shares Nicole.

“My daughter and I love walking outside with our dog,” says Akiko. “By doing so, we get to enjoy nature, spend quality time together, and get some exercise.”

“I would suggest creating a plan for daily activities,” advises Patty. “It could be as simple as doing chores together or preparing a small snack during afternoons. It will amaze you how creative they actually are and how much they enjoy doing small tasks at home as long as they have YOU to do it with.”
