Outfits You Can Wear To A Christmas Reunion
Christmas reunion parties are right around the corner and we have absolutely nothing to wear!
As offices and friends start throwing Christmas reunions left and right, it’s distressing to find out that we have no outfits that they haven’t seen to wear! But we also don’t want to spend on a new outfit unless we’re planning to use it over the next few months to make it worth the purchase. Besides as moms, it’s probably rare that we’ve gone shopping for ourselves which is why we came up with a list of outfits we can wear to a Christmas Reunion using only staples and basics!
1. Mom Jeans and White blouse
The classic mom jeans and a white will never go old because of its flexibility: we can color pop it with our accessories while pairing wearing either plain white sneakers, short boots, or nude heels. Accessories can include costume floral clay earrings in red, and green, or even a scarf that we can make into a makeshift cravat or necktie. Bracelets made of semi-precious stones can also add a more earthy pa-pow to our outfit at the Christmas reunion.
2. Linen dress and a printed jacket
Holidays always love prints but it doesn’t always have to be plaid and in red. Some even go nautical with vertical navy blue lines on white because it elongates. Others may go rugged with a leather jacket if they’re not into prints but more on metallic accents or a patchwork denim jacket to add more texture to our plain linen dress.
3. Turtlenecks or cowl necks are back in!
If our closet has too much corporate wear then, we’ll probably have a few turtlenecks lying around. Most especially in maroon or black, it can pair with gray or denim skirts, pants, or shorts so it makes our pearl or yellow gold jewelry with pop out more. If we’re not confident with our legs but want that flowy look, midi-skirts are back and so are embroidered tights. Further elevate it with a belt to cover the garter if we’re tucking in the top.
4. Little black dresses with shawls
Shawls are not just for old people! Style it with a shawl clamp or pin to create faux sleeves on a sleeveless black dress. Black, being a neutral color, emphasizes on the other more festive accessories like red cardigans, white and gold shawls, etc. With a shawl clamp or broach, it makes the accessory easier to manage when we’re living it up during the Christmas reunion.
5. Go full denim!
Acid-wash, dark-wash, raw denim, stretch denim — with the many styles and designs to pick from, it’s not impossible to create a full denim outfit! Add some body to that loose white button-up polo in the closet with a denim halter and pair it with a skirt. For the shoes, it can either be sneakers, boots, or heels, depending on the cut and design of the denim pieces.
6. Coats and over-sized blazers
Outerwear may not be completely practical in the Philippines but Christmas reunions aren’t usually alfresco! Those coats and over-sized blazers we saved for our international trips elongates our figure alongside our matching shoes and bottoms.
Rise to the Christmas Reunion Runway Challenge!
A woman’s greatest fear of having nothing to wear doesn’t dissipate when they become moms. It’s usually because we’re afraid that people may judge us for wearing the same thing, thinking that we never had those pieces washed. But, with a bit of innovation and some fashion board searching on the internet, there are a lot of outfits to copy for a Christmas reunion. Who knows? Maybe we can dig into our mother’s closets too since vintage fashion is making quite the comeback! It’s time to rise to the Christmas reunion runway challenge and slay!
