1. The Proposal (2009)
Granted, it’s an old movie but the slow-burn romance is great for parents who remember all the shenanigans they had to when introducing their potential spouse to their families. Starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, The Proposal is a romantic comedy movie that shows that romance doesn’t always have to start from the man’s attempts. It can start with the woman too!

2. Kimi No Nawa (2016)
While romance isn’t the main genre and it’s an anime, Kimi No Nawa is a movie on connections and how they can transcend time. The movie starts with a girl named Mitsuha Miyamizu who wishes to live in Tokyo. She then starts switching bodies with a boy named Taki Tachibana, a boy who lives in Tokyo. Realizing that they need to find a way to communicate, they do so via messages on paper or the messenger. Unlike other romance movies, this one focuses on the sweet moments that eventually build into a relationship.

3. Ticket to Paradise (2022)
Considering how much chemistry Julia Roberts and George Clooney had in Ocean’s 11 and 12, imagine that in a rom-com movie. Ticket to Paradise may hit home for a lot of parents who are co-parenting, especially when they see their kids now all grown-up taking relationships to the next step. It’s a lot of fun and laughter as the parents find each other and themselves again as they watch how their child pursues a life filled with love.

4. Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001, 2004, 2016)

7. Me Before You (2016)
Emilia Clarke may be known as the Mother of Dragons due to her role in Game of Thrones. But in Me Before You, she’s a young lady named Lou who’s doing everything to make ends meet. She then served as an assistant to a paraplegic who wished to die after an accident had taken “everything” from him. It’s a movie that teaches that love can do a lot of things, including letting go.

8. No Reservations (2007)
Although critics said that No Reservations didn’t have the burst of romance that most do, what we like about this movie is that it tackles parenting, especially from the viewpoint of a talented chef (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones) who becomes the mom to her niece, nine-year-old Zoe, when her sister dies. It’s quite a navigation also when she brings in a new sous-chef, Nick, and eventually begins to work alongside him and fall in love with him.

9. La La Land (2016)
For those who prefer a musical, La La Land may be just your cup of tea. Starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, the two in the movie are creatives and entertainers trying to enter the industry. However, as they go deeper into their relationship, they go through many ups and downs with their dreams becoming the topic of discussion half the time. 10. Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
What happens when the man you’re in love with happens to be several social classes above? That’s what Crazy Rich Asians talks about. It also talks about the clash of ideals and how Love faces all these, especially in the case of Eleanor and Rachel. On one side, it talks about the sacrifices that Eleanor has made for her family but also shares that even those from the younger generation, even with her differing ideals, are willing to make that sacrifice.
