The man behind Superman
Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, the late actor’s voice can also be heard in some scenes. In one scene, the actor said it was his late wife Dana, who died of lung cancer in 2006 whom he credits his life. Her words saved him after he became paralyzed.
“And then she said the words that saved my life: you’re still you, and I love you,'” he said.
Christopher Reeve appeared in four Superman movies. His projects include Anna Karenina and appearances on Smallville.
His horseback riding accident led him to be active in looking for a cure for paralysis, speaking about the condition worldwide. The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation was established for its work dedicated to people with disabilities. All of his children are members of the foundation.
