TikTok Rolls Out New Parental Tools for a Safer, More Transparent Teen Experience
The app’s new Family Pairing features give parents more insight into how their teens are using the platform
As teens spend more time creating, scrolling, and sharing online, many parents are left wondering what’s happening on their kids’ screens. TikTok is now rolling out a new set of tools aimed at helping families navigate the app more safely, without stifling creativity.
On July 30, the company announced updates to its Family Pairing feature, which enables parents to monitor and guide their child’s TikTok experience.
TikTok says these tools are designed with both safety and self-expression in mind.

Family Features
In a blog post, TikTok’s Head of Operations and Trust & Safety, Adam Presser, shared that the platform now offers more than 50 features designed to help teens express themselves while giving parents more visibility and control.
The new Family Pairing feature includes the following:
- Post Notifications: Parents receive alerts when their teen publicly posts videos, photos, or stories, offering a chance to start conversations around digital boundaries.
- Privacy Setting Insights: Parents can review content their teen downloads, view public following lists, and get a better sense of the topics shaping their teen’s For You feed.
Well-being matters
Their newest addition, called the Well-being Mission, offers a series of short, interactive prompts designed to help users develop healthier digital habits.
Upon completion of each mission, users earn badges that reinforce and reward mindful behavior on the app.
More Tools on the Platform
While aimed at creators, new features like Creator Care Mode and Content Check Lite further TikTok’s push for a more supportive, respectful space. In the U.S., TikTok is also testing a feature called Footnote, which adds more context to videos by letting users write and rate them—part of the app’s ongoing effort to improve transparency.
Why This Matters for Parents
For parents trying to balance digital freedom with safety, TikTok’s new features provide an extra layer of visibility and conversation starters. They don’t replace parenting, but they support it, giving adults more tools to help teens build healthier, safer digital habits.
