Trina Legaspi on Breastfeeding Woes: “It Really Takes a Village.”
One month into postpartum, Trina Legaspi shares how it really takes a village to raise a child especially when breastfeeding.
One of the greatest fears of any new mom is being unable to breastfeed their child. When unable to produce milk, they’re hit with waves of Breastfeeding Guilt which can lead to Postpartum Depression. Celebrity new mom Trina Legsapi recently opened up about her postpartum. But more on the woes of struggling to breastfeed, remarking how “it really takes a village to raise a child.”
“Akala ko ‘nung una wala akong masyadong milk (I’ve experienced postpartum dahil doon) pero sobrang blessed ko dahil maraming tumutulong at nakakaintindi ng nararamdaman ko. I’m thankful for the endless support and reassurance from my family,” writes Trina on her IG post.
Breastfeeding Woes: Quick to Judge, Slow to Support
The world is quick to condemn new moms when they’re unable to breastfeed but slow to offer support. But when Trina’s family offered the support she needed, she then became able to exclusively breastfeed Khaela, happily celebrating that her baby girl gained a bit of weight. “After a month, we’re so happy that Kaela is gaining weight from exclusively breastfeeding! Yay!”
Trina Legaspi’s whole family reportedly pitched in. From cooking endless amounts of “halaan, tahong at malunggay soup”, talking to lactation consultants, and eating all kinds of lactation cookies and supplements. But most of all, they all offered a willing ear to understand the struggle Trina was in as a new mom who was trying to follow the tradition of exclusively breastfeeding.
“Yes, lahat ng pwedeng gawin ginawa ko, lots of patience and determination talaga!”
A Mother Will Always Fight For Her Child
No matter the problem, a mother will always fight for her child. It’s a struggle but the knowledge that there’s someone wholeheartedly and unconditionally depending on them fuels them with the strength they need to keep on fighting. It’s like what Trina Legaspi said on her post for breastfeeding moms. “Kaya sa mga padede moms at sa mga nakaka-experience ng postpartum, mahirap po talaga sa umpisa pero laban lang po tayo para kay baby!”
