Ways To Style Long Skirts Into Our Outfits
Modest, trendy, and comfortable — here are some chic ways to incorporate long skirts into our outfits.
Playful, breezy, and a perfect cover for our legs, long skirts are a basic we love. When the weather is too hot and humid, a long skirt has that “built-in aircon” to prevent us from sweating in the most uncomfortable of places. Besides, long skirts — depending on the material — work well with various tops and accessories. Some of these skirts, when made from linen or cotton, offer a fresh apperance while denim ones create a rugged yet feminine look. And with celebrity moms like Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez looking great in them, it’s no surprise that this modest, timeless basic piece is making a comeback!
Faux Dress
When we have a top that’s the same shade as our long skirt, we can just tuck it to create a faux dress! To hide that we tucked the blouse or top into the skirt, we can use a cinch belt or one of those thick leather belts.
Blazers
Even Dior is ressurecting the blazer and skirt combo! The fun part about styling it with a blazer is that each blazer, depending on the cut, can transform the long skirt to fit the occasion. For those who are petite, moms can break out those vintage blazers with shoulder pads to create a more structured look. Moms with broad shoulders can use the over-sized, casual blazers to soften the look with their flowing long skirts.
Cropped blazers are also a playful option especially when made in tweed or in a bright color.
Crop Top + Long Skirt = Co-Ord!
Pair a crop top with a long skirt and you’ll have a trendy look for a beach party! Some go with a monochrome look, matching the same colored crop top and long skirt to make a co-ord. Then, there’s also matching a neutral colored long skirt with a warm or cool-colored crop top. Some moms, to add more glitz and glam to their long skirt outfit, pair their skirts with a top that has hardware like gold or silver chains to connect to their various accessories.
Sweater + Long Skirt
Take a page out of our favorite K-Drama and style a skirt with a sweater or cardigan. A more comfy look for the colder days, a graphic sweater creates a relaxed look especially if it has your favorite cartoon character on it. After that, we can even pair it with strappys, mandals, or rubber shoes if we’re going out for errands. Fitted cardigans, on the other hand, create a youthful and shy feminine look.
Jackets and Boots
Typically, we pair long skirts with heels. But some people in Western countries style their pieces — especially their tulle ones — with their short lace-up boots, to create a stylish contrast.
Button-Up Blouse
For this look, some may prefer a long A-line, a fitted pencil-cut, or a mermaid/fish tail skirt with a high waistline. The high waist line lets us tuck in the tails and the trails from our button-up blouse, creating a corporate look which we can also pair with tights and heels.
Gone are the short days, in with the long!
Sometimes, we want to wear something breezy or summery but the effort to perfect the outfit can feel so draining. Some of us have to remove our leg hair, put lotion, apply concealer to hide the bites and scars from our previous excursions, and various other things just to wear our favorite midi or short skirt. At least with long skirts, we can skip all that and just slip it on and go. Mom fashion, we’d like to think, still celebrates our youthful spirit but with more pragmatic and flowing elements!
