Moms and Dads

What are the Dads of DadBudPH Up To?

It looks like DadBudPH’s strong community of 58,000 dads are up to something new and beautiful!

Dads need their tribes as much as moms do. Realizing that there was no “official” safe space for dads to talk about their struggles and ask questions, DadBudPH founder Joey Ong created the group in 2019 when he was about to enter his own fatherhood journey. Today, the online community celebrates with a whooping 58,000 members based on their post last August 3, 2023, while opening many events for dads to gather. Whether it’s to promote their businesses or to look for ways to adjust to the parenting rhythm, these dads have created the ultimate safe space online for one another to share ideas and approaches to the twisting and turning journey of fatherhood.

Operation: DadBud Academy

Pretty soon, DadBudPH made ripples not just with Philippine dads but others across the globe. With Joey Ong accepting an invite from Meta, the community opened its doors to other dads in different countries. “It was great,” shares Joey in a recent update. “It gave me validation that I was doing something good. I was doing something that would change the lives of a lot of people.”

From polishing the old Dad Talk segment, the DadBud Academy shines from beneath. “We invite dads to come and share their different stories because I believe all we need is stories to inspire one another,” says Joey, an avid and talented storyteller himself.

The beauty of the DadBud Academy’s success then inspired the DadFest, which was held in honor of Father’s Day. “We’re celebrating all these beautiful stories coming from dad vendors. What we did was we even created a dadpreneur program. We enable these dadpreneurs, owners of small businesses, by allowing them to accelerate the growth of their business,” adds Joey.

Shining the Spotlight on Dad

In DadBudPH, they celebrate the many baby steps dads take to becoming the man of the house. To become the man that their children and their families deserve by confronting the hard topics — it’s no easy road, especially when people expect them to just take things as is. And while moms are empowering themselves in the corporate world, dads are also discovering themselves in the home setting. Because when there’s support and friends all around, the job of parenting feels a little bit easier.
