5 Lessons Families Can Pick From Ne Zha 2
Ne Zha 2 is a follow-up to the 2019 movie, which became the highest-grossing film worldwide based on Chinese mythology
After six years, the follow-up to Ne Zha has been released. In Ne Zha 2, we see our young hero alongside Ao Bing as they embark on a mission to get Ao Bing’s body back by going through a series of tests to get a potion to regenerate the sacred lotus.
As Ne Zha works with Ao Bing, sharing his body and accompanied by their master Taiyi, he encounters challenges that test his maturity, patience, and loyalty. With his parents, Li Jing and Lady Yin, Ne Zha finally sees the real power in him.
The film opened in cinemas on March 12 and parents can take their kids 11 years old and above to watch it. Here are five lessons families will pick up while watching the movie.
Arrogance never gets you anywhere
In the film, Ne Zha is a young boy and he is always confident that he can pass the test given to him. His cockiness is often seen as arrogance and charges during fights before even thinking. With Ao Bing’s help, he’s able to fight back but it reminds us that before even charging on a decision, always step back and think if it’s the right decision.
Anger is not always the answer
Getting angry is normal, most especially when challenged or someone breaks a promise. In Ne Zha’s case, he held on to the promise of Ao Guang, Ao Bing’s father, that he will not harm his town Chentang Pass. But when an emergency forces him to return to his hometown and sees it was burned down to the ground, it angers him as he goes to Ao Guang and accuses him of breaking his promise.
Ne Zha grows even more upset and angry when his mother, Lady Yin, dies in front of him and his father, losing strength from her aura powers.”His mother’s passing unleashes his full power, as the people around him see his grown-up form and battle the real culprits behind the burning of his city.
Despite differences, parents will always love their kids
In one of the most heartfelt scenes in the movie, Ne Zha cries to his dying mom, saying that all he ever wanted was for them to be proud of him despite his flaws. Lady Yin tells him that since the day he was born, he was loved and that she will always be proud of him as her son. Li Jing also reminds Ne Zha that they will be behind him no matter what happens.
Betrayal happens in different forms
There are many instances when we refuse to listen to explanations because of alleged betrayal. In Ne Zha’s case, he got furious with Ao Guang when he accused him of breaking the ceasefire agreement. But he was surprised to know that it wasn’t Ao Guang who destroyed his village but Wuliang and the hunters. He also found out that Shen Gongbao helped his parents in trying to defend the village.
If there’s one thing about the twist in the story, it shows that the people who are helping you may be the cause of betrayal.
Opposites can be friends
Ne Zha represents the fire demon while Ao Bing represents water. Two people who are opposite and become close to each other. While Ne Zha got upset because of Ao Bing’s father, the two eventually fought side by side to defeat Wuliang. Ao Bing initially leaves to be with his father and their people but with Ao Guang’s blessing returns to Ne Zha as they help rebuild Shentang Pass and defend it from evil forces.
If we think about it, people who are opposite tend to clash. But sometimes, it’s the differences that make it work and close to each other.

Laugh and cry when you watch Ne Zha 2
Judging by the end credits, there is a chance for a part 3 of the film. You have to watch Ne Zha 2 to know the rest of the adventure Ne Zha and Ao Bing go through. One minute, you’ll cry, and one minute, you’ll laugh. So get your popcorn and drinks and enjoy the ride with Ne Zha 2.
