Billy Crawford Almost Gave Up on His Dancing With the Stars Stint!

During his interview on Boy Abunda’s Fast Talk, Billy Crawford admitted he almost gave up participating in the French version of the hit show Dancing with the Stars if it weren’t for his wife Coleen Garcia’s reminder to him.

Billy Crawford may have won the Danse Avec Les Stars!, the French version of Dancing With the Stars last year but he admitted he almost threw in the towel during the intense rehearsals they had to go through.

During an interview with Boy Abunda on his show Fast Talk, the singer and host, who is set to return to television via The Voice Generations said that when he told his wife, actress Coleen Garcia, that he wanted to withdraw from the show, they almost had a big argument about it.

“There was a time in my life na kinausap ko ng seryoso ang asawa ko. And I prayed to God so hard na I wanted to quit,” he recalled. “My body couldn’t take it anymore. Yung stress of competition ng 10 hours of training every single day and competing every Friday.”

When he did talk to Coleen and asked her if she will get mad at him about backing out, she told him they already made the sacrifices for it.

“Sabi niya yes, magagalit ako kung susuko ka. We’re all here for you. So if you don’t work at it, if you don’t do well, it’s on you.”

“It takes a lot of sacrifices and hindi lang sa akin yung sacrifices. Si Coleen sacrificed three months na dinala niya yung anak namin. She took care of our son daily for three months and she sacrificed her work for me,” he said pertaining to the couple’s son Amari.

Returning to GMA

Billy, who started his career on That’s Entertainment, is back on GMA as one of the coaches of the upcoming reality show The Voice Generations. Serving alongside Billy as a judge are Parokya ni Edgar’s frontman Chito Miranda, singer Julie Ann San Jose, and SB19’s main vocalist Stell Ajero.

Asked to describe the difference between The Voice Generations from other franchises, Billy said: “You have to be two or more. You have to be 10 years apart if you are two or more people. But you also have to be either in a relationship or a relative. It doesn’t matter but you just have to have a relationship and it has to be a 10-year age gap.”

The competition he added is open to groups so it will be a fun show. The Voice Generations is hosted by Dingdong Dantes and will start airing within the year.

As someone who has been in showbiz for a long time, Billy was also asked about the lessons he learned most especially from one of his mentors, German Moreno.

“[You have to] be professional. You have to be punctual and you also have to remember everyone you meet because someday, kakailanganin ka at kakailanganin mo rin sila sa industriya. So it’s just the respecting of our craft.”
