The city of Makati will play host to the film festival happening in December
Four movies were announced at a press conference on Tuesday, July 8, as part of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2025, scheduled this December.
The city of Makati, under new Mayor Nancy Binay, will host this year’s festival. Enchong Dee and Kaladkaren hosted the event.
The four films are among the eight movies that will be screened in the festival. The other four will be announced on September 30.
The movies announced are:
Call Me Mother starring Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre
Produced by ABS-CBN, The Idea First Company, and Viva Communications Inc., the film is a drama-comedy, directed by Jun Robles Lana, who helmed Vice’s movie And The Breadwinner Is last year.
In the synopsis announced, the film is a story of a queer mom named Twinkle who plans on surprising her adopted child Angel with a Disneyland trip and finalizing the adoption process if no one gets him. Things become complicated with the arrival of Mara, making Twinkle prove that she can take care of both of them.

Manila’s Finest, starring Piolo Pascual
Manila’s Finest is described as a crime thriller under the direction of Rae Red. Piolo returns to the MMFF after starring in The Kingdom alongside Vic Sotto.

Rekonek, starring Carmina Villaroel, Zoren Legaspi, and Gerald Anderson
A family drama, Rekonek, is directed by Jade Castro and produced by Reality MM Studios. This marks the return of real-life couple Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi back on the big screen.
Shake, Rattle, and Roll: Evil Origins
