A New Rainbow Brite Is In The Works From Hallmark and Crayola
The 80s popular show is getting a new TV series and a movie and here’s what we know so far
Rainbow Brite is coming back! Crayola Studios and Hallmark announced they are planning a TV series and movie for the franchise, which marked its 40th year.
Variety reported that the movie is in development by the producers of The Fast and The Furious and Sonic and the Hedgehog producers Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher. Cake Entertainment meanwhile is developing the TV show, which revolves around the themes of the original series such as friendship, love, and the colors of optimism and darkness.
Cake Entertainment CEO Ed Galton told the Hollywood Reporter they are excited to bring Rainbow Brite back to the small screen.
“The opportunity to reimagine such a beloved and iconic brand is incredibly exciting, and we can’t wait to bring its color, magic, and optimism to a new generation of fans around the world.”
Other details for both film and TV series have yet to be announced.
A beloved show from the 80s
Rainbow Brite is a nostalgic show from the 80s that parents from that era are familiar with. After all, they’ve grown up with Wisp, Twink, Starlite, and the Color Kids and have lived vicariously through their adventures!
The show aired in 1984 with “The Beginning of Rainbowland.” A movie, Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer was released after.
Rainbow Brite has been getting some love recently as girls, who are now moms have been sharing nostalgic moments on the show. We can’t wait for more details about the projects!
