The most anticipated wedding of the year, the Atayde-Mendoza Wedding, finally took place last July 28, 2023 in a star-studded but intimate celebration. Held in Alphaland Baguio Mountain Lodges Chapel, Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza didn’t just celebrate their love but also the unique relationship they had with both their in-laws and their parents. After all, in a traditional Filipino wedding, we don’t just marry the person but their family, too!

The Atayde-Mendoza Wedding’s Most Adorable Parenting Moments

The most nerve-wracking moments for parents at weddings are the preparations and having to make a speech in front of the new family. As Filipinos, we always put our best foot forward, especially when we’re the parents of newlyweds. But Arjo Atayde’s parents — Art Atayde and Sylvia Sanchez — handled themselves in a style that speaks volumes about their relationship with their new daughter-in-law.

“Hindi kita mamahalin bilang daughter-in-law,” Sylvia Sanchez solemnly declares. “Mamahalin kita bilang tunay na anak!” (I won’t love you as just a daughter-in-law. I will love you as my true child!)

“I would like to welcome to the family, my lovely daughter, Maine,” Art says with pride.

Both Maine and Art Atayde shared a joking moment on stage where she forgot to hug him, laughing together when they realized it.
