Dante Basco and Alice Rehemutula are Expecting Their First Baby!

Celebrated voice actor Dante Basco and actress Alice Rehemutula just dropped the sonograms of their first baby on their Instagram!

There’s a big cheer from both the old and new fans from the Avatar: The Last Airbender community as Dante Basco and Alice Rehemutula announce that they’re expecting their first baby! On both their Instagrams, the two posted videos and photos of their baby’s sonogram while proudly expressing their heritage in the caption.

“We’re having a baby!!! We’re excited! And a little nervous… what’s going to happen when you mix an #uyghur & a #Filipino?!? 🥰,” they both write.

Many of us who grew up with watching Nickelodeon and Disney Channel will recognize Dante Basco’s voice. Not only did he play Rufio from in the movie Hook with the late Robin Williams, but he also voiced two favorite animated heartthrobs: Jake Long from the cartoon American Dragon Jake Long and Prince [now Firelord] Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender, whose redemption arc is still considered one of the best written stories ever in animated series. He also voiced General Iroh in another installation of Avatar, Legend of Korra.

Alice Rehemutula has been making waves as a filmmaker. Her movie, Falling in Love in Broken English, won Best Road Movie at the Cannes World Film Festival. She also received an honorable mention in the International Toronto Women’s Film Festival for the same movie. Alice made her directorial debut in Shanghai where she made it as a semi-finalist at the Shanghai International Short Week. She also shares snippets every so often of her life as an Uyghur woman.

After posting the announcement, the thread was immediately flooded with congratulations for the couple. Some even came from celebrity parents in the Philippines like Iza Calzado, Sam Valenciano, and even Jericho Rosales! And not to our surprise, references to Dante Basco’s role as Zuko even popped out in the chat, coming from the voice actors of the two characters that Zuko often dealt with.

“That’s great, buddy,” Jack DeSena, the voice actor of Sokka, writes while referencing a particular episode where Zuko and Soka entered a high-security prison.

Another one came from Grey deLisle, who voiced Zuko’s prodigious sister, Princess Azula. “I hope they turn out like their Auntie Azula. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.”

Congratulations to the couple!

Although they’re mum about the gender, we can’t wait to see what they have planned. After all, both parents are celebrated members of the entertainment industry. Congratulations, Dante and Alice, for the new baby!
