New Birthday Party Idea from Dimples Romana: A Fiesta Theme!
Celebrity mom Dimples Romana threw her youngest, Elio, a Filipino Fiesta-themed birthday and we’re all for it!
When parents celebrate their children’s first birthdays, it’s usually a pastel color, with some unicorns, moons, and traditional icons often associated with babies. But celebrity mom Dimples Romana gave us a new idea for a birthday party: why not a Filipino fiesta? Birthdays have always been a family celebration and what better way to celebrate the Filipino spirit than with a Filipino fiesta welcoming the newest member of the family, Elio?
Streamers, Filipino food, and the works!
Fiestas have been a long-standing tradition in Filipino culture; whether graduation, a saint’s feast day, a wedding anniversary, and even birthdays — we never found a reason to not have a fiesta!
With multi-colored streamers and banderitas, paper chandeliers, and even traditional rattan decor, Dimples Romana recreated the traditional Filipino fiesta set-up. The entire floor was filled with other nostalgic elements like sari-sari stores and some animal statues that usually come from the neighbor’s barrio. She also had a marching band performing some tunes to add to the festive theme.
Besides the decor, even the servers followed the theme. Dressed with salakots and woven sashes, the waiters and cooks served all the traditional favorites found in a beloved birthday fiesta such as lumpiang shanghai, siomai, and many others. The food even came in traditional clay pots!
And last but not least, no Filipino fiesta is complete without the traditional games — including the kids’ all-time favorite: pabitin!
Fiestas: a celebration of Filipino family culture
Fiestas always played a vital role in Philippine history. They celebrate the gathering and bonds of those from different barangays and barrios, bringing together one big family. Dimples Romana’s choice to use a fiesta theme offers a breath of fresh air as the rest of the family celebrates Elio. Happy 1st birthday, Elio!
The birthday also appears to be a double celebration based on the celebrity mom’s Instagram feed. Not long after posting the video of Elio’s birthday fiesta, she also posted some photos from his Christening.
