Filipina Cadet Graduates from the US Coast Guard Academy

The Philippine Coast Guard proudly announced the graduation of Victoria Gil Regalado with honors at the United States Coast Guard Academy

A Filipina cadet has graduated with top honors at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. On Instagram, the Philippine Coast Guard beamed with pride at the accomplishment of Ensign Victoria Gil Regalado, who studied at the Philippine Science High School Central Mindanao Campus in Lanao del Norte. She graduated last May 22 in the US.

“The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) congratulates CG Probationary Ensign Victoria Gil Regalado for graduating from the United States Coast Guard Academy at New London, Connecticut with the highest honors on 22 May 2024,” the PCG wrote on its official Instagram.

“CG P/ENS Regalado, from Iligan City was appointed as an international cadet of the PCG under the International Cadetship Program of the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) Class of 2024.”

The PCG also shared that Regalado took her oath as PCG cadet back on May 27, 2020, and was sworn in July 2020 in USCGA.

Regalado graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, making her the first Filipina to do so. Currently with the rank of Ensign, Regalado will serve for a minimum of eight years of continuous active service.

Victoria’s experience in USCGA

On her profile on the USCGA website, Victoria is also a part of the Water Polo team and the International Council and Genesis.

She also shared some of her experiences at the academy. ” The friends I made transformed the Academy into my home away from home, opening their homes and families to me and allowing me to explore various states and even foreign countries during our breaks. I have also been fortunate to have a supportive sponsor family throughout my four-year journey.”

Regalado is the daughter of an engineer from Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, while her mother, with whom she shares the same name is from Fuentes, Iligan City.
