Gladys Reyes to Husbands and Wives: Communication is Key
Glady Reyes, who has been married to Christopher Roxas for 20 years, reminded both husband and wife to be vocal in communicating what they want.
Gladys Reyes has been in showbiz for a long time and has been with her husband Christopher Roxas (11 years as boyfriend and girlfriend and 20 years as a married couple) since they got together after meeting in the show Mara Clara. But like other couples, Gladys, known for her antagonist roles onscreen, said that no marriage is perfect.
During an interview with Boy Abunda on Fast Talk Monday, April 10, Gladys was asked how she and Christopher managed to make their marriage work despite the challenges around them.
“Kahit 30 years of togetherness kami, hanggang ngayon may mga arguments, may mga pagkakataon na we don’t see eye to eye,” she said. “Pero ang important kasi yung komunikasyon namin. Na sinasabi namin sa isa’t isa. Sabi nga nila, ang mga lalake, hindi po sila manghuhula.”
“Minsan kasi tayo, ineexpect ng mga babae na dapat alam mo na iyan. Hindi, sabihin natin. Ako, very vocal ako of what I want, ano gusto ko mangyari. Si Christopher ganun din at sa totoong buhay, napaka-vocal niya.”
Previous advice for couples
Gladys and Christopher’s relationship is just one of many showbiz relationships people look up to because they make it work. But in several interviews in the past, the two shared it really takes a lot of effort from each other.
In a 2019 ABS-CBN interview where they celebrated 26 years of being together, Christopher asked Gladys how does he make her a better person.
“There’s no such thing as [a] perfect relationship but ours is so beautiful because you bring both the best and the worst out of me,” she chuckled. “Kasi hindi naman ganon palagi (It’s not always going to be that) you bring out the best in you. With that question, you already made me a better person.”
Gladys recently returned to the movies where she was part of the cast for the movie Apag starring Coco Martin and Here Comes the Group alongside Enchong Dee.
