Mark Herras and Rainier Castillo on Starstruck and Fatherhood

Starstruck Batch 1’s Mark Herras and Rainier Castillo appeared on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda to reminisce about their days on the show and life as dads.

Mark Herras and Rainier Castillo rose to fame as part of GMA’s first batch of the hit reality show Starstruck. Now in their mid-30s, the two appeared on the show Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, which aired on August 15, to share lessons and life now as dads.

Mark Herras and Rainier Castillo on their careers

During the interview, Boy asked if there was anything that went wrong with the direction of their careers.

Rainier, who took a long break from showbiz, admitted that there were some decisions along the way that did not work out.

Mark made a guest appearance in the upcoming show The Missing Husband along with fellow StarStruck alumnae Nadine Samonte, Yasmien Kurdi, and Rocco Nacino. Meanwhile, Rainier is returning via the upcoming show Black Rider starring Ruru Madrid.

Life as dads

The conversation also revolved around their lives as fathers. Mark, who has a daughter from a previous relationship and a son with his wife Nicole Donesa, was asked how being raised by a gay couple whom he calls Daddy Jun and Tito Hermie made him the dad he is.

“Dahil sa pagpapalaki sa akin nung dalawa [Daddy Jun and Tito Hermie], ang naipasa nila sa akin na ginagawa ko sa anak is I’ll do anything or kahit ano pa yan, kaya ko isakripisyo para sa anak ko, kung mag-hustle pa ng trabaho at maka-provide for them, gagawin ko.”

The actor-dancer was also asked about his views on gay love. “It’s just two normal people na nagmamahalan.

Rainier meanwhile said that as a father, he is strict. I can say that I am a strict father pero sobrang loving, sobrang protective.”
