Metro Manila May Be Alert Level 1 Starting March
Vaccination efforts and observance of safety protocols are paying off as Metro Manila potentially can drop to Lockdown Alert Level 1.
Families’ efforts to stay safe and get vaccinated are now paying off. Metro Manila appears to have a controlled amount of cases that the mayors are seeing the potential for the area to drop down to Lockdown Alert Level 1. Our kids will be able to enjoy more amenities while out should this happen. But, there are several requirements for Metro Manila to meet before it can reach Alert Level 1 such as at least 80% of the population being fully vaccinated.
The New Normal
Metro Manila’s drop to Alert Level 1 means opening things to almost full operational capacity while still observing safety protocols. Families will still need to bring vaccination cards and wear their masks. Social distancing will still be observed especially since COVID-19 is still out there. As of now, the country is still in a “state of public health emergency” according to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
But Dr. Rontgene Solata, an infectious disease expert, cites that the numbers are proof that Metro Manila can lower its alert level. He shares, “It’s really a good time to downgrade the alert level. But that doesn’t mean we stop the safety protocols. Face masks and social distancing are still important to keep the numbers down.”
Until we’re sure, keep up the good fight
It’s good news for every family that the fight against COVID-19 looks almost over. But victory against the virus needs consistent and conscious efforts to stay safe. Parents may want to bring out their kids but do so, judiciously. Going out with reckless abandon might trigger another lockdown burst similar to the one last New Year. Although we’ve earned the freedom, do so responsibly so we don’t lose it again.
