NSync Reunites And Rock Out at Video Music Awards 2023
90s boyband NSYNC surprised the audience and artists present at the Video Music Awards a decade after their last performance.
It’s the reunion everyone is talking about! A decade since their last performance at the Video Music Awards, 90s boy band NSYNC returned to the stage where artists including Taylor Swift screamed upon their entrance at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on September 12.
With some of them parents themselves, Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, and Joey Fatone got together to award Taylor Swift the Best Pop Award. But before giving the award, the five gave a short speech.
Remembering their big moment
“Over 20 years ago, we were just kids when we won best pop video for ‘Bye Bye Bye,’” JC said. “It was our first VMA and it meant the world to us.”
“That award validated our hard work,” Chris chimed in.
“A lot has changed in the past two decades but one thing remains constant, a creative boundary-pushing video leaves a lasting mark for decades,” Lance added.
The boys thanked the VMAs and MTV for their support before handling the awards including Taylor’s award.
Taylor herself was amazed and said that she had all their dolls when she was young.
“What’s going to happen now? They’re going to do something and I need to know what it is. You guys are pop personified, so to receive this from your golden pop hands is really too much,” she told the five.
Prior to the awards, the boys shared a video of the five of them inside an elevator before the surprise.
Not the first reunion
This was not the first time the five got together. Aside from their VMA appearance in 2013, the boys did a special guesting on the defunct Ellen DeGeneres show in 2018.
Since taking a break from music, the boys themselves had different careers. Justin, who is married to actress Jessica Alba, has two kids and continues to perform. Joey and Chris have kept a low profile with their respective kids and wives except for a few guest appearances.
Lance on the other hand has dabbled in movie and TV work. He and his husband Michael Turchin are raising their twins, a boy, and a girl born through surrogacy. JC on the other hand is in a relationship with longtime girlfriend Jennifer Hu Young.
