Rihanna Redefines What’s Considered Decent for Pregnant Women
Vogue Magazine’s May cover star, Rihanna, hopes to redefine decency during pregnancy with a shoot that truly celebrates her body.
Music icon and soon-to-be mom, Rihanna, is currently expecting her first child with rapper, A$AP Rocky. Ever since she surprised the world with her pregnancy in January, the singer has been embracing her baby bump with fashion choices that show it off.
Recently, she spoke about challenging stereotypes when it comes to dressing while pregnant. By pushing the idea of “sexy”, Rihanna aspires to celebrate her body in all its pregnant glory.
“My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that.”
In her latest cover shoot with Vogue, Rihana says that she hopes to redefine what’s considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women. “When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, ‘There’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle.’ I’m sorry—it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing.”
She adds that if it’s not something she would have worn before she was pregnant, then it’s not something she’s going to wear now.
“My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that. This time should feel celebratory. Because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?”
