Sesame Street’s New Season Lands on Netflix: What Parents Need to Know

Sesame Street’s 56th season premieres November 10 on Netflix and PBS

Sesame Street is coming to Netflix this November. The children’s show announced that its 56th season will officially air on the streaming platform beginning November 10 in the U.S.

“We are excited to announce that new episodes of Sesame Street will premiere on November 10th on @pbskids and @netflix!” Sesame Workshops announced on its social media pages.

A New Format for the Show?

Aside from the release date, it’s reported that the 56th season of Sesame Street will have a different format. The Hollywood Reporter wrote that aside from the same airing date with PBS, Sesame Workshops will drop the magazine format and opt for a longer narrative-driven format, to be accompanied by an animated segment called Tales from 123.

Netflix and Sesame Street’s partnership was announced early this year, after HBO Max decided not to renew its partnership with the long-running children’s show.

The New York Times reported that Sesame Workshop spent the following months exploring new streaming options to ensure the show could continue reaching young audiences.

Meanwhile, public broadcasting has also faced funding challenges, making it harder for shows like Sesame Street to rely solely on traditional platforms. Fortunately, the new deal ensures the program will remain available on PBS for non-streaming households, even as it begins its next chapter with Netflix.

Still a Timeless Show for Many

Since its debut in 1969, Sesame Street has helped raise generations of children with its timeless message: to grow up smarter, stronger, and kinder. Its muppets aren’t just characters—they’re cultural icons, lovingly woven into the fabric of childhood. From Big Bird to Elmo, and from Rosita to Ji-Young and TJ, the show’s first Filipino muppet. Sesame Street remains a champion of diversity, inclusion, and empathy, in a time when it’s challenged by many.

In a time when kindness, understanding, and representation matter more than ever, Sesame Street is right where it belongs—right at home with families everywhere.
