Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Fast Approaching This 2027
With the success of the third installment, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has been confirmed in the works!
It looks like the Sonic the Hedgehog universe is growing and fast! With us who are kids at heart and this generation of kids cheering on the cocky blue hedgehog and his black and red counterpart, the studio producing the movies has announced that a fourth installment has been confirmed. Set to release on March 19 2027, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 plays off the post-credits of the third movie, revealing the two new characters who will be joining the crew: the hammer-wielding pink hedgehog Amy Rose and a robot version of Sonic — Metal Sonic!
What can we expect from the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 movie?
Enter the likely new villain: Metal Sonic
There might be a slight difference in the movie-verse as Metal Sonic was originally created by Dr. Eggman. Although Dr. Robotnik (played by celebrated comedian Jim Carrey) allegedly “died” in the movie, there is a possibility that Metal Sonic’s origin story will be different. However, the third installment already teased that there will be Metal Sonic troopers — an army of robotic hedgehogs having some of Sonic’s abilities.
Amy Rose: Cute and strong in one package!
Amy Rose has always been a popular character and for many of us who grew up playing the video games, we’ll remember her for her signature hammer. Until today, she is still everything a daughter wish they could be: cute, pink, and still strong enough to swing a hammer.
While initially depicted as having a crush on Sonic or even being the blue hedgehog’s love interest, her lack of lines in the post-credits of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 means there may be additions to their personality. As of now, there’s no news yet as to who her voice actress will be.
Shadow’s return?
With Shadow surviving the explosion of the Eclipse Cannon, there is a good chance that Sonic will have to call him for help. Besides, it’ll be fun for the us and the kids to see their banter considering how the two behave as “what-ifs” of one another.

With a star-studded voice acting cast, it’d be a shame for all of that to lose its steam now. Sonic the Hedgehog, although a classic character, proves that there are just some stories that don’t lose their flair even after many years. While there are some details that differ from the original series, it’s to make it easier for our kids to digest. After all, some portions of the series may be a little too dark (e.g. Shadow’s origin story, etc.) that may be too dark.
Besides the hedgehogs, we’re sure that Jim Carrey’s zany humor and creative direction is what we’re all waiting for too!
Paramount announced that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is set to launch on March 19, 2027.
