Arrr ya ready, kids? SpongeBob is back with a new movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants! After embarking on a quest to clear his boss, Mr. Krab’s, name from stealing the crown of the ocean deity Neptune, it looks like he’s on another one. Determined to prove his bravery to the former, SpongeBob dares himself to follow The Flying Dutchman — a mysterious, grumpy, and ghostly pirate — who’s had his fair share of dealing with SpongeBob’s mishaps. But this time, the ghostly swashbuckler will be taking SpongeBob to a part of the sea that no sponge has ever been before!

What can parents expect from the new SpongeBob movie?
Like any SpongeBob movie, it’s going to be full of mishaps and misadventures! After all, SpongeBob’s energetic and bubbly demeanor seems to get them through almost anything that may or may not be dangerous. His signature laughter gets everyone either rolling on the floor laughing or shaking their heads as they all wonder, “How in the world did we get into this mess?”
As for the cast, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants brings in the voice actors from the series. Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, George Lopez, Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola will be reprising their roles. But two new faces will be joining — Scary Movie parody film actress Regina Hall and voice-acting veteran Mark Hamill, who has voiced villains like Batman’s The Joker and Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Firelord Ozai.
When’s The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants?
For The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants release, it’ll be debuted differently across the world. In the USA, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants will be lined up as a Christmas movie selection, debuting on December 19, 2025. However, the Philippine release date for the movie will be much later, scheduled to release on January 21, 2026.
Nonetheless, we’re sure that everyone will be in for a laugh when watching this comedic sea-based cartoon! Whether it’s because of Mr. Krab’s greed for money getting him into trouble, SpongeBob somehow surviving something impossible, or Patrick just being… Patrick, it’s a whole lot of family fun for young families who want to share their childhood cartoons with their kids.
