Singer Tina Turner is the latest showbiz personality to get her own Barbie doll.
Tina Turner is now a Barbie doll. The singer, known for her hit, “What’s Love Got to Do With It”, is the latest singer to get her own doll from Mattel.
“Barbie is proud to honor the unmatched career of the ‘Queen of Rock ’n Roll’ with a Tina Turner Barbie doll,” the company announced. “Wearing a mini dress and denim jacket inspired by her look in the ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ video, collectors and music fans alike can celebrate the music icon with the new Signature Barbie doll.”
In a statement, Tina said: “I am honored to welcome my Barbie into the group of trailblazing women already represented and introduce more kids to my journey.”
Tina’s doll is the latest among Barbie’s Signature Music Series. Others who got their dolls include Gloria Estefan and David Bowie.
Growing Diversity of Barbie Dolls
Tina’s doll is among the latest release from Barbie. Early this year, Mattel also released the likes of Vera Wang and Laverne Cox. This is to promote the importance of representation among its consumers.
Barbie has previously launched other series. These include the Most Inspiring Women Series as well as Sports figures and other personalities.
