What Parents Need to Know About Bondee
There’s a new social app trending among millennials and Gen Zs. And it’s called Bondee! Here’s what you need to know about it.
If you’ve been seeing your kids post a 3D animated avatar of themselves on their Instagram stories, it’s from a new social app called Bondee. Bondee simulates living and hanging out with friends in the metaverse or a virtual reality space where they can customize how they look, decorate their rooms, chat with each other, and more. It’s like a mix of the Sims and Animal Crossing—only simpler and available on a mobile phone.

What can you do on Bondee?
Upon downloading the app, users can create and customize their avatars. The avatars can do a wide array of things—from petting a cat to reading a book or dancing. You can also design different rooms with a selection of furniture, which makes it fun for millennials who grew up playing the Sims.
You can add up to 50 friends on Bondee, too. It even has NFT elements!

Who created the app?
A tech startup firm in Singapore called Metadream developed the app. They have teams based in Japan and South Korea, as well as data centers in Singapore, the United States, and South Korea. They plan to have regional operation centers in the Philippines and Thailand as well. This way, they can better serve local users.

Why do kids love the app?
A lot of millennials and Gen Zs love using Bondee because it allows them to do a number of things! Apart from expressing themselves through avatars and room designs, they can hang out with their friends in a virtual space. They can chat one-on-one or create group chats—similar to messenger apps. Additionally, because they can only add up to 50 friends at the moment, it gives them a space to interact with their closest and most trusted circles. And if your child is an introvert, they would surely thrive here! Plus, it’s a great alternative when they can’t hang out in real life. Or if they simply want to have fun with friends.
