But steaks, as simple as they look, can be challenging to cook. Yet, there are some who will rise to the challenge! Raw steaks are for those who are masters of the grill and kitchen. They probably know how to sear and poach a steak in butter while it’s absorbing the aroma of the bouquet garni (or the herb branches that are tied together). A timeless delicatessen that brings in different imported goodies, Santi’s also has a meat section that offers different steak cuts. They have Rib-Eye, T-Bone, and more. Don’t forget to pair that delicious steak with a wine from their cellar!

Time to make the most of that membership card! But we’re not talking about the steak in the membership saver’s section. There’s a particular brand hidden in the freezer known as Meltique Steak. It usually has good marbling and will save you time in trying to figure out what a good quality steak is.

The Meat Depot is both a restaurant and a butchery where some people can buy a Tomahawk steak on rare occassions. While they have high-quality meats, they’re also a family-friendly restaurant to go to with side dishes like their mushroom soup and pasta being the kids’ favorites.

8. Meat Plus

For those who have frequented Duty Free in Subic during their childhood then, Meat Plus was most likely where people would buy steak. Both a butchery and a restaurant, Meat Plus in Subic Freeport is a favored steakhouse for those who are planning to spend Father’s Day outside the metro.

Places That Serve Steak

For those who are trying not to burn the house down, here are steakhouses to treat dad to on Father’s Day.

1. House of Wagyu

People hail Wagyu as the “king of all steak” because it melts in the mouth. One such restaurant that takes pride in that is House of Wagyu — a classic favorite among those in the Greenhills area, right next to Unimart. They even offer the novel experience of grilling your steak on a stone slab.

2. Wolfgang Steakhouse

Wolfgang Steakhouse brags that each steak they have is based on USDA Prime Black Angus beef, making it top-class meat. Another fine-dining restaurant for Father’s Day, Wolfgang Steakhouse serves other steak-based dishes like the NY Prime-Rib, Filet Mignon, Porterhouse, and classic Rib-Eye.

They have a branch in Podium, Newport Manila, BGC, and Resorts World.

3. Chesa Bianca

A little restaurant that reminds you of the Old Swiss Inn on Yakal Street, Makati, Chesa Bianca is owned by Santi’s. Meaning, their steaks are most likely from them, too. While their specialties include sausages and hash like most North European restaurants, they have the Certified Angus Rib Eye Steak “Café de Paris” and Beef Fillet Mignon ala Chesa.

They’re also known to have a weekly menu so that might be good to check out for Father’s Day!

4. Melo’s Steakhouse

A classic among the QC citizens, Melo’s Steakhouse became the favorite steakhouse for many QC parents who need some date time or to celebrate Father’s Day. Most of their steak dishes are sets that include vegetables and dad’s choice of shrimp or scallops.

They have several other branches like one in Westgate Alabang and Taguig.

5. Wagyu Manila

A Japanese steakhouse hidden along Chino Roces, Wagyu Manila is home to all things Wagyuu — including Wagyu Aburi Sushi. Their Wagyu cuts vary from Karubi, Matsusaka, Olive, and Kobe, gifting every dad the thrill of trying a new cut of steak. The good news is, despite Makati being so crowded, it has a parking area, so no need to worry too much about the car.

6. Ginza Gyu

Besides their signature Gyuudon, Ginza Gyu also sells A5 Ohmi Wagyuu which is considered one of the finest from the Shima Prefecture in Japan. They cook it in two ways: Yakiniku, which they grill over charcoal or Teppanyaki, which they cook on a misono grill.

Ginza Gyu has three branches. One in BGC (G/F Icon Plaza 26th St.), in Makati (2307 Chino Roces Ave.), and one in Ortigas (G/F Agustin 1 Bldg Emerald Ave.).

Always look for a good place to buy steak for Father’s Day!

Buying good quality steak will be a struggle with Father’s Day happening soon. And while we do want some fresh steak, there’s also some benefit to dry-aging them. Some YouTubers like Guga have done a variety of dry rubs that simply enhance the taste of the steak. And if all else fails, reserve a table for Father’s Day at least a week ahead before it gets full!
