YouTube Rolls Out Link Parents Can See Kids’ Activities Online
YouTube has launched a supervision link, wherein parents can link to their kids, particularly teens accounts in monitoring their online activities
Since the explosion of social media, concerns have risen on its consumption particularly among kids and teens. YouTube has rolled out in previous years apps and links that can help families in the consumption and early this month, they launched their latest approach to teen supervision.
Introducing the new link
In press release on its blog, YouTube explained about the new roll out for parents to check on their teens’ upload and comments on YouTube.
“We recognize the important part we play in their lives and today, we’re introducing a new supervised experience on YouTube that will give parents and teens the option to link their accounts and get shared insights and notifications,” the company announced. ” This new experience is designed to keep parents informed about their teens’ channel activity on YouTube and help them provide encouragement and advice on responsible content creation.”
The company said that the accounts will be linked to the Family Center, wherein parents can see the subscription, comments, and uploads their kids will do. Parents and teens will receive email notifications, offering them insights on advice of ” advice on responsible creation supported by resources created with Common Sense Networks, an affiliate of Common Sense Media.”
Protecting teens online
The link is the latest collaboration by YouTube, parenting and clinical community in light of the growing concerns of social media and technology consumption among today’s kids. YouTube said that they continue to improve their tools and talk to several experts.
Many of their recent roll outs include features in fighting promotion of eating disorders to introducing wellness and privacy protection.
“We’re proud to take this next step to give parents the ability to engage thoughtfully with their teens’ online presence,” the company said.
With this new roll out, parents get to see what their teens look up and comment on to guard their mental and intellectual health.
