7 Nostalgic Robot Shows We Watched And Still Enjoy

We all grew up watching shows involving robots whether it be cartoons or anime

Growing up, I was exposed to various types of TV shows. Among the TV shows I grew up watching were robots. Yes, robot shows were part of my youth and that of my siblings. We never got tired of going back to what we know now as classics and we love to impart them to our kids as well.

Through the years, these shows have been adapted for the movies and have been rebroadcasted on morning and afternoon timeslots. They even became part of our kid’s weekend habits and we do watch it ourselves from time to time. Check out these seven familiar shows and let us know which ones you vividly remember.

Transformers

No list would be complete without mentioning Transformers. Since coming out in the ’80s under Hasbro, the show has been part of pop culture. Aside from its sequels, the battle of the Autobots and Decepticons has been adapted on the big screen with six films under its belt. A new film, Transformers: Rise of the Beast was announced in February as one of three new installments which will be released in 2023 under Paramount Plus.

Voltes V

Another show that has transitioned different generations is Voltes V. The show, which is part of the Robot Romance Trilogy tells the story of the Boazanian empire’s aim to conquer the Earth and the Armstrong brothers Steve, Big Bert, and Little John longing to be reunited with their father.

The show has been rebroadcasted several times on various channels. GMA is set to release its TV adaptation called Voltes V Legacy this year.

Daimos

Daimos like Voltes V, Daimos is part of the Robot Romance Trilogy (the other being Combattler V). Daimos’ pilot Richard falls in love with a mysterious woman named Erika. He later discovers that Erika is the sister of Ulrich, the commander, and prince of the Baam empire, who aims to invade the Earth after he falsely accused the humans of the death of their father Emperor Leon.

Despite the war between their kind, Richard and Erika long for the day when they can be together again.

Voltron

Voltron first aired in 1984 in the US. The show, which was adapted from Beast Go Lion in Japan, tells the story of five space explorers from Earth in search of the lions forming Voltron. After escaping Zarkon, they head over to Planet Arus where they meet Princess Allura and Coran, who help them fight against Zarkon and his forces.

The show has spawned several versions. Aside from the lion and vehicle versions, Voltron has also released Fleet of Doom, The Third Dimension, Voltron Force, and Legendary Defenders.

Gundam Wing

Gundam has several series and Gundam Wing was one of them. It’s the 6th series under the franchise and was very popular in the mid-90s to 2000s. The show primarily focuses on the five Gundam pilots Heero, Trowa, Duo, Quatre, and Yungfei. They are joined by Relina, heir to the Sanc Kingdom, and become a political figure guiding the 5 pilots, especially Heero.

Choudenshi Bioman

Choudenshi Bioman is one of the many installments of the Super Sentai metaseries under Toei Company. The show is about five humans chosen. to defend the Earth after discovering they were ancestors of the original who was showered with bio particles when the robot first came to Earth.

When Dr Man and the Neo-Empire threatened the Earth, Peebo, a robot who survived Planet Bio goes on a search for the five descendants and forms a team to fight Dr. Man and his allies.

Hikari Sentai Maskman

Another popular from the Super Sentai metaseries was Maskman. Unlike Bioman, the five chosen warriors have martial arts skills and derive their power from the Aura Power. The group battles the evil forces of the Underground Empire Tube. Things get complicated when Princess Ial, who took the name Mio was sent to the surface as a spy falls in love with Takeru.

Nostalgic Factor in these Robot Shows

There will be times when you just want to relax and watch your favorite shows from your childhood. Whether they involve robots or not, you will always yearn for those moments in your life when it was nice to be just a kid all over again so make the most out of it!
