Best Hotel Buffets That Families Will Love

When we rate hotel buffets for families, they need to pass three requirements: deliciousness, number of things to do during the staycation, and hospitality.

Especially with the holidays around the corner, some of us would prefer to spend Christmas in the form of a staycation! Everything’s there already; from the Christmas decor, good food, and amenities — all we have to do now is invite everybody over to spend the holidays together. But before popping in for a call to reserve a table, here are some hotel buffet recommendations that we know families will enjoy.

Brittany Hotel

With a mall right next to the hotel, there’s even time to go shopping after stuffing ourselves silly at Brittany Hotel’s Tavern on The 8th. Offering whole-day dining, the hotel also uses the buffet to showcase upcoming new talents to families who are looking for novelty in hotel buffets. For those who are planning to have a staycation, they have quite the breakfast buffet, too!

Manila Peninsula

The classic beauty of Manila Peninsula has been a favorite among many families in Makati for some tea time in the lobby with the high ceilings, luxurious ambiance of Greek columns, paradise-themed tapestries, and the soothing orchestra at the mezzanine of the hotel. But the hotel has also made a name for itself with its signature buffet: The Escolta. At P2,600 per head for adults and P1,300 for kids 6 to 12 years old, the various cuisine choices make it worth the price. Plus, after the buffet, there are so many photo-op spots to take to elevate our social media albums.

SEDA Vertis North

Don’t let Misto’s size fool you! As a business and staycation hotel, SEDA Vertis North offers guaranteed favorites including crepes, bread, and Filipino dishes. But what we love about the buffet is that it’s well-lit and easy to find. Upon entering the hotel, it’s right in front so one can make a beeline for the buffet if the family’s hungry! The best part is — the mall’s nearby for a quick walk around while burning calories.

Per head, Misto costs around P1,800 net.

Okada Manila

Okada Manila’s Medley buffet earned its place among the best because it offers a dish that most buffets don’t: lobster! Besides the delicious crustacean, it also has the usual arrangement of multiple cuisines. Although slightly smaller than most of the 5-star-hotel buffets, what Okada Manila makes up for in their lack of the usual dishes are the kind staff who always make sure families make the most out of their experience.

Okada’s buffet costs around P3,088 for adults and P1,600 for kids.

Hotel Okura

Although it offers international dishes like most buffets, Hotel Okura’s specialty lies in its Japanese dishes and Filipino favorites. On weekends, which is most likely when families go out, Hotel Okura delights by following the Kisetsu philosophy. Kisetsu, also known as “seasons” in English, is when the chefs of the buffet utilize ingredients that are at their prime during the season.

On Saturday lunch, they have a promo at P1,600++ per head. But the average price goes for P3,300++~ P3,600.

EDSA Shangri-La

EDSA Shangri-La

As one of the old hotels that catered to weddings during the pandemic, EDSA Shangri-La has not lost its flair in presenting its dishes through its signature buffet: Heat. What we love about the EDSA Shangri-La hotel buffet is the seafood selection wherein we can eat a whole three plates of shrimp and shellfish without the fear of prejudice before enjoying some taho or Filipino desserts to top it all off. They also recently renovated their pool bar, which offers all-you-can-eat grub at the grill on weekends!

Dusit

Dusit Thani

Dusit Thani’s signature buffet, The Pantry, may be a bit smaller but offers unique flavors from the Middle East. They have various curry-style or korma-type dishes like Lamb with Egg as well as various kebabs to enjoy with their dips in a cart. Upon entry, the buffet is going to catch some eyes as the first thing one sees upon entering is the Dessert Bar and their sophisticated fruit juice and drinks bar to enjoy with the meals.

They have different prices for Dinner (Friday and Saturdays) – P2,000++/pax and Brunch (Sunday) –  P1,850++/pax.

Raffles

Raffles, Fairmont Makati

Known as The Spectrum, Raffles Makati’s hotel buffet is simply that. Boasting of a Teppanyaki bar where we can have our favorite meats and seafoods grilled, they also have an extensive Poke bowl station and a shellfish and crustacean station. While most families would go for buffets with a lot of red meat, The Spectrum helps families take into consideration family members who are trying to rebalance their diet.

Per head, lunch prices are at P2,150 whereas dinner is P2,380 (Sunday to Thursday) and P2,450 (Friday and Saturday respectively).

How buffets make children less picky with their food

Parents are always looking for ways to make their kids more open to different kinds of food. While we’d like to indulge our inner frustrated master chef, sometimes, it’s better to find it in a hotel buffet. With professional chefs manning the stove, we’re assured that the kids will only taste the best (plus it lessens the guilt on us for not being able to cook well). Especially during the coming holidays or upcoming birthday celebrations, hotel buffets are a good alternative when our favorite restaurants are fully booked for the Christmas season!
