Camille Prats Shares Why Moms Love Candid Family Photos

Celebrity mom Camille Prats also describes the difference between how her younger kids and her teens express their need for her.

Getting our kids or teens to even agree to a candid family shot is a war that we will always desperately fight to win. When they’re younger, they don’t have the attention span or patience to sit through it. Teens, on the other hand, prefer to raise an eyebrow, frown, or do some pose that’s considered trending on Instagram or Tiktok. And when celebrity mom Camille Prats posts a candid photo of her and the kids that her husband John Yambao took, it’s different from the usual editorial look but she shares why she values it so.

Camille: “There are so many moments that I want to memorialize.”

At some point, it will feel like our children don’t need us anymore. Fights will escalate, cold wars will happen, and affection such as hugs, kisses, and words of affirmation will disappear. Children change their expression of love as they get older which Camille points out. “The everyday magic and adventure of being a mom of little kids who only have their eyes fixed on you. I am their comfort, their safe space, their security blanket. At least for now, that is who I am to them.” She adds, “Very different from how the older boys show their need for me.”

But those are the changes that come along with being a parent. Children cannot remain babies forever; they will change along with the seasons which Camille shares an important epiphany of being a parent. “Being a parent, you have to roll with the tide, you have to glide with the wind; the ever-changing stages and seasons that inevitably take place.”

We want to immortalize the beautiful moment before our minds lose it.

As we grow old, our memories will also fade away. When Dementia takes over our minds, we don’t want to ever forget the love we shared with our kids when they were small. These are the “beautiful moments” — as Camille Prats describes it — that we all wish we can always look back to. The hugs, the kisses, and even the finally getting the teens and kids to pose for a photo are all moments that we want to immortalize and for our kids to remember when we’re gone.

Camille and John’s son, Nathaniel, recently turned 15 years old which she celebrated with a slideshow of photos on her Instagram.
