The Cast of Home Along da Riles Reunite!
The cast of the hit sitcom Home Along da Riles graced the screening of the remastered film last September 1 to open the celebration of Philippine Film Industry Month.
If you were a child of the 90s, chances are you know the sitcom Home Along da Riles on Channel 2. It starred the late Dolphy as Kevin Cosme together with Nova Villa, Claudine Barretto, and Vandolph Quizon. Last September 1, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) formally opened the celebration of the Philippine Film Industry Month, with the screening of the movie version of the sitcom.
Nova Villa, who played Kevin’s love interest Azon, attended the screening together with Claudine Barretto, Vandolph Quizon, Smokey Manaloto, and Gio Alvarez, who played Kevin’s kids. Maybelyn dela Cruz, Dang Cruz, and Dang Cruz round up the cast.
Not the first reunion
This is not the first time the cast had a reunion. In recent months, Claudine and her onscreen siblings have been spotted together numerous times. This includes the celebration of Dolphy’s death anniversary in July. They even did some TikTok videos together.
Moreover, in an interview with ABS-CBN, Nova Villa said that it was “amazing” to see her TV kids again.
“Nakakamiss silang lahat. And also our fans will probably be very happy na nandito kami para magbigay saya muli sa kanila.”
For Vandolph, they are very happy that not only is the movie shown again. He’s also thrilled to be giving recognition to the legacy his dad has contributed to Philippine comedy.
“Yung legacy ng tatay Kevin namin ay dala-dala na namin lahat iyon lalo na pag magkakasama kami,” he said. “Everything happens for. reason and this is for our dad. Home Along was like a true family sa gaming lahat so wala kaming ginawa sa taping kung hindi magbigay ng saya, iyak at tamang timpla ng Pamilyang Pilipino.”
The Legacy of Home Along da Riles
First aired in 1992 on ABS-CBN, Home Along da Riles is the story of Kevin Cosme, who is a widow and survived by his four children – Bill, Bob, Bing, and Baldo. He lives along the railroad tracks and despite the challenges his family faces, he manages to show the good side of many things.
The show ran from 1992 to 2003. This was followed by a spin-off called Home Along da Airport in 2003 and aired until 2005.
Two movies featuring the cast were made in 1993 and 1997 under Star Cinema.
