The Biggest Movie Announcements From Disney’s D23 2026

Disney has announced an exciting lineup of movies and shows that families and fans will be looking forward to in the coming years

Disney’s D23 kicked off over the weekend, bringing with it a host of announcements covering movies, shows, and new attractions coming to Disney Parks in the next few years.

Together with sister companies Marvel, Pixar, and 20th Century, Disney unveiled several films that have fans already counting down to their release dates. Here are some of the biggest movie announcements from the event:

The Simpsons Movie

The Simpsons are heading back to the big screen!

Disney announced that a second Simpsons movie is in the works and is set for release in September 2027. Details about the story are still under wraps, but fans of the long-running animated family can look forward to another adventure with the Simpsons.

Coco 2

Miguel is all grown up!

A still from the upcoming Coco 2 was shared at D23, giving fans a glimpse at what’s next for Miguel and the world of the Land of the Dead. Benjamin Bratt is also set to return as Ernesto de la Cruz.

Coco 2 is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2029.

The Incredibles 3

The Parr family is coming back!

Disney and Pixar unveiled new concept art for The Incredibles 3, confirming that another installment of the beloved superhero family’s story is in the works.

A release date has yet to be announced, but just knowing that Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack are returning is already exciting news for fans.

Star Wars: Starfighter

The Star Wars universe continues to expand with Star Wars: Starfighter.

The upcoming film will be directed by Shawn Levy, with Ryan Gosling leading the cast. The movie is scheduled to hit cinemas on May 28, 2027.

For Gosling, this adds another major franchise to his upcoming filmography. He was also recently announced to play Ghost Rider in Marvel’s upcoming project. Levy is also directing the movie.

Bluey the Movie

The Heeler family is coming to the big screen!

A teaser for Bluey the Movie, which is set for release in 2027, was shared during D23. Fans of Bluey, Bingo, Bandit, and Chilli can look forward to seeing the beloved Australian family take their adventures to the cinema.

And if the teaser is anything to go by, there will be plenty of heart—and, of course, chaos.

Zootopia 3

The Zootopia franchise is getting even bigger.

Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are coming back for another adventure, with Zootopia 3 officially in the works.

X-Men

It’s officially happening!

Marvel has confirmed a new X-Men film, with Sadie Sink returning as Jean Grey following her appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The cast of the movie was also announced.

Adam Driver is also joining the cast as Mister Sinister. The film is currently scheduled for a May 5, 2028 release in the US.

For longtime Marvel fans, the announcement marks another exciting step in bringing the X-Men into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Frozen 3

Anna, Elsa, and Olaf are coming back!

Fans were treated to a sneak peek at Frozen 3, including a glimpse of a new ice queen whom the sisters will encounter.

Who is she? We’ll have to wait until the film hits cinemas in 2027 to find out.

Tangled

Rapunzel, Flynn, and Mother Gothel are heading to the big screen on March 31, 2028.

A sneak peek featuring Kathryn Hahn and Teagan Croft was shown at D23, giving fans an early look at Disney’s upcoming live-action take on the beloved Tangled story.

Making it more special was Kathryn Hahn making a special appearance live at D23.

Lilo & Stitch

More chaos, more fun!

A new Lilo & Stitch movie is also in the works. And true to Stitch’s mischievous nature, the announcement itself came with a little bit of malfunction and mayhem.

The movie is scheduled for a May 28, 2028 release

Romy and Michelle 2

For those who grew up watching Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, there’s another reunion to look forward to!

Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow dropped by D23 to confirm that they are working on a sequel. Fans will get to see what Romy and Michelle have been up to beyond their iconic Post-it note story.

20th Century first teased the project in early June, sharing a photo of the two stars sitting in their own chairs.

So Many Movies to Look Forward To

Beyond these announcements, fans also got another look at the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.

With so many movies coming from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and 20th Century, there’s certainly a lot for families and fans to look forward to in the next few years.
