Emma Stone Wins Second Oscar and Quotes a Taylor Swift Song for Her Daughter

Emma Stone won her second Oscar for the film Poor Things and gave special mention to her family and her daughter in her speech.

Emma Stone is now a two-time Oscar winner. Eight years after winning for La La Land, the actress went up on stage to get her second award for the movie Poor Things on Sunday, March 10, US time in Los Angeles.

In her speech, Emma, who was stunned by the win, said that before the awards night, she had a panic attack and was calmed by Director Yorgos Lanthimos.

“The other night, I was panicking, as you can kind of see, happens a lot. That maybe something like this could happen, and Yorgos said to me, ‘Please take yourself out of it.’ And he was right, because it’s not about me. It’s about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that is the best part about making movies. It’s all of us together,” she said.

She went on to thank her co-nominees and gave a special mention to her family, most especially her daughter Louise with husband Dave McCary.

“I know I have to wrap up, but I really just want to thank my family. My mom, my brother Spencer, my dad, my husband Dave, I love you so much.”

“And most importantly, my daughter who’s going to be three in three days and has turned our lives technicolor. I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl,” taking a reference to Taylor Swift’s song “Bigger Than The Whole Sky.”

Before accepting the award, Emma had a little dress mishap when the zipper of her Louis Vuitton gown broke, joking that it happened during Ryan Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken” number.

Parents support in Hollywood

Although she now has a family of her own, Emma has always credited her family’s support for her career in Hollywood.

“I know that none of this, obviously, would be possible without their support, especially at that age. I mean, it wasn’t like I had graduated high school and I said, ‘OK, bye. I’m taking a plane or taking a bus or driving myself out to LA to try to do this,'” she shared with NPR. “It was impossible without their support. “

She also discussed battling anxiety at a young age, turning it into a superpower.

“Just because we might have a funny thing going on in our amygdala, and our fight-or-flight response is maybe a little bit out of whack in comparison to many people’s brain chemistry, it doesn’t make it wrong. It doesn’t make it bad. It just means we have these tools to manage,” she said.

“And if you can use it for productive things, if you can use all of those feelings in those synapses that are firing for something creative, or something that you’re passionate about, or something interesting, anxiety is like rocket fuel because you can’t help but get out of bed and do things, do things, do things because you’ve got all of this energy within you. And that’s really a gift.”
