Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano to Hold a Church Wedding Soon

Celebrity parents Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano, who tied the knot prior at an intimate wedding, confirm and tease an upcoming church wedding.

Because of the pandemic, many couples put their wedding plans on hold—especially if they wanted it in a particular church.

Since then, intimate weddings have become a trend, with some couples getting married civilly first before having the church wedding itself. The same goes for celebrity parents Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano! The two initially had an intimate wedding in February 2021 and now tease and confirm that they will be having a church wedding this year, 2024.

“Finally, matuloy na rin ‘yung church wedding namin,” Jessy confirms with ABS-CBN during an appearance at a Health and Wellness Expo.”Finally, makakauwi na rin ‘yung family ko, ’cause when we did our civil wedding noong 2021, wala pa ‘yung family ko noon.”

The celebrity mom added that it was their [she and Luis’] “dream wedding.”

But the biggest joy the new parents have is having Jessy’s family finally meet one of the latest additions to the Mendiola family: Rosie. “Nakakatuwa, kasi my whole family is coming.”

First comes civil, second comes church: A contemporary approach to weddings

Weddings in the Philippines are not just a grand celebration, but a sacred one as well. From childhood, all the way to adulthood, many people in the Philippines dream of having their wedding in a beautiful church. However, with the pandemic delaying and even canceling many of these celebrations, many wedding dreams and expectations are in shambles.

But there was a silver lining to it. As couples built their guest lists, they soon realized they only needed to invite those who have made a positive impact in their lives. Of course, there will still be the occasional sabit.

Even so, this gave couples more control and power over who to invite—instead of giving in to their families’ insistence and pressure to invite relatives or guests they are uncomfortable with. It was the perfect excuse!

For Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano’s church wedding, it’ll remain an intimate affair, much like their destination wedding in Batangas. “We’re not really hiding it but we’re not putting it out there naman,” she adds.

She also praises Luis, adding how sweet he is in sharing her dreams. “This time, sabi niya I want you to have your wedding of your dreams, with your family and with the Lord.”

However, we can all agree she’s not the only one we’re excited for. Jessy ecstatically reveals that Rosie will also be walking down the aisle with her as one of the bridesmaids. “Little bride siya, nae-excite ako, super. And naglalakad na siya, sana lang makayanan niyang maglakad sa aisle,” the celebrity mom gushes.

Some celebrations are well worth the wait!

For many new parents who tied the knot during the pandemic, they held off the church wedding for various reasons. Some held it off to see if they were truly meant for each other. Others waited for a particular season when their favorite places finally opened up. But of course, many waited for their baby to be prepared also for the wedding celebration in case they would be part of the entourage.

And for Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano’s church wedding, we can’t wait to see both mom and daughter blooming in their gowns, with dad looking just as dapper.

Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano had their intimate civil wedding at The Farm at San Benito, Batangas last February 2021. They then welcomed their baby girl, Rosie, in December 2022.
