John Lloyd Cruz Gives Insights on Co-Parenting and Being a Dad
Speaking to Boy Abunda, John Lloyd Cruz talks about being a dad to his son Elias, co-parenting, and finding love again.
John Lloyd Cruz recently appeared on Boy Abunda’s Fast Talk to celebrate the host’s birthday. In the interview, he gets candid about being a father to Elias, co-parenting with ex-partner Ellen Adarna, and his personal life.
John Lloyd Cruz on son Elias: Napaka-swerte ko
Boy proceeded to ask how John Lloyd’s relationship has been with his son. “Sobrang panalo. Napaka-swerte ko,” the actor said of his son.
“Ang lupit nung role niya sa buhay ko nung dumating na siya. Yung simpleng mapapaliwanag ko siya is si Elias, parang niligtas niya yung buhay ko. Hindi ko ma-imagine yung buhay ko kung paano magtutuloy kung hindi siya dumating.”
The One More Chance actor added that his son has given him new meaning in so many things including the responsibilities that come with it.
On co-parenting with Ellen Adarna
When it comes to co-parenting with ex-partner Ellen Adarna, John Lloyd admits it can be challenging.
“That’s a bit of a challenge. Ayoko i-sugar coat. We’re co-parenting but depende kasi sa definition mo ng co-parenting. From my end, to simplify kung paano ko siya pinapalaki is to lead without imposing. Yung gusto ko siya tanungin and gusto ko siya mag-develop ng sariling capacity to decide on certain things.”
“S’yempre yung mga bagay na hindi pa niya alam, nandoon kami,” he added.
In terms of values, John Lloyd said that he’s fortunate that he and Ellen are on the same path when it comes to raising their son.
“Napaka-swerte ko at nagpapasalamat kay Ellen at kay Derek [Ramsay] dahil iniisip nila yung kapakanan ng bata,” he said.
On his relationship with Isabel Santos
Although he has long been rumored to be in a relationship with artist Isabel Santos, John Lloyd confirmed that the two of them are together.
“Si Isabel ay girlfriend ko. Boyfriend niya ako,” he said. “Matagal na kaming magkakilala. Yung gallery nila yung unang gallery na pinasok ko.”
He added it was during his long break after ABS-CBN that he was able to meet Isabel and explore the world of art. “We were already talking before pero hindi nag-evolve into something for us at that time. Mula noon, present na siya sa buhay ko.”
When it comes to the topic of marriage, John Lloyd added that in some ways, Isabel was a big help in what he defines it.
“She’s very elemental sa mga ganyan bagay kung paano namomold yung ano man lumalabas sa bibig ko, kung ano man nabubo sa isip ko. S’yempre, yung consideration for the two of us especially para sa kanya laging nandoon.”
John Lloyd and Isabel have been spotted numerous times together. One of their early trips this year was in February when John Lloyd and Elias were spotted on a camping trip.
