John Pearce Is Proud Of His Filipino Roots And Mom Floredeliza
Filipino-Australian John Pearce has gained recognition as the Purple Wiggle on the Wiggles, but his love for his mom is what attracts him to many!
If you are unaware, John Pearce, known to kids in Australia as the Purple Wiggle, has gained popularity since joining the Wiggles in 2021. John’s participation in the show has earned him fans from kids and their moms!
But beyond the viral sensation he has become since joining the show, John has made it his mission to put Filipino culture in the spotlight. Thanks to his mom, Flordeliza, more Filipino-Australians are getting to know the two cultures through The Wiggles and his social media platforms.

In an interview with ABC Australia, John said of his mom: ” A lot are surprised that I have a Filipino mom that is hilarious and can relate to.”
Doing the videos with his mom allowed him to know his Filipino roots, John said. Flordeliza on the other hand is proud of what her son has been doing and loves the fact they make each other laugh.
Appearances on The Wiggles
Flordeliza has gained recognition herself beyond her son’s social media videos. She has appeared on The Wiggles, counting in Filipino and explaining the song “Bahay Kubo” to a multicultural audience.
“That’s my favorite to make them sleep or calm down,” she shared of the famous Filipino song.
In the ABC Australia interview, Flordeliza, who is from Cebu, explained that she tried to teach her family Filipino and Bisaya but found it difficult. At that time, she was beginning to learn Australian culture and English after migrating in 1991.
“Now that it seems they are interested to know where I came from and what the culture is about, it’s important [they know about it],” she said.
Nevertheless, this did not hinder John from learning Filipino. He has recorded videos of himself introducing Filipino on The Wiggles and his platform. And he and his mom are excited to share it with a new generation. John and his wife Jessie are awaiting the arrival of their baby.
“My mom will teach him to speak Tagalog or Bisaya. I would love for my child to have a touch of everything,” he shared. ” My wife [Jessie] is Italian and I would love to bring that Filipino culture, that Italian culture.”

Backtrack: Who Is John Pearce?
Before the Wiggles, John has already carved his name in Australian entertainment. He gained recognition as part of Justice Crew, a dance group that joined Australia’s Got Talent. His brother Len was also part of the group.
John is also known for promoting fitness and health among viewers, having joined Australia’s Ninja Warrior.
Although he’s known as “Big Strong John” these days on Australian television, John will be busy when his wife Jessie gives birth soon. He and Jessie have documented the journey together, pointing out challenges women go through during pregnancy.
In one video, John experimented with what it felt like to be pregnant. He wrote later: ” I gave up after 10 mins.”
With his mom and wife by his side and a baby soon to complete his own family, John is putting to good use what he’s learning from his stint in The Wiggles. Who knows, his son might even appear one day and do the “Fruit Salad” song with him.
