Parents and their kids will get to watch more cultural shows soon. The Knowledge Channel together with the Cultural Center of the Philippines recently forged an agreement to show the CCP’s cultural shows through the channel this 2022.
The culture and art content will be part of the Araling Panlipunan segment of Knowledge Channel, which has been showcasing educational shows online and in various public schools. The CCP and Knowledge Channel have yet to announce the line-up.
Knowledge Channel: To Teach Kids About the Filipino Identity
Rina Lopez-Bautista, KCFI president and executive director, said that she was very happy with the renewal of their partnership with CCP. The project is an opportunity for students to learn more about the Filipino identity.
“Having knowledge about Filipino history, culture and language is fundamental in the holistic development of the Filipino child. Children will have a profound sense of their identity as a Filipino and a strong feeling of pride for their country,” Bautista said.
CCP president Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso also expressed his happiness with the partnership, as this will allow CCP to reach out to more students and pique their curiosity about the rich Filipino heritage.
The Knowledge Channel and CCP previously worked together when it aired a live adaptation of Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere for high school students and various productions during a segment called Theater Hour.
Getting to Know Philippine Culture
The partnership, not only gives students and parents the chance to learn for free but also know more about other cultures that they may not know.
The cultural shows will also make students ask themselves about their identity and what they can contribute in the future to the arts and culture in the future.
