Kylie Padilla Reflects on Sang’gre, Single Parenthood, and Inner Healing
The actress reflects on her return as Amihan in Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre—and gets candid about parenting, depression, and healing
Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre premiered last June 16 with a nostalgic scene showing the four original Sang’gres of 2016—Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Sanya Lopez, and Gabbi Garcia—riding together once again.
For many fans, it was a magical throwback. But for Kylie Padilla, the moment came with mixed emotions. Though the reunion was powerful, it reminded her of a painful truth: her beloved character, Amihan, is no longer alive in the story.

Kylie Padilla: “It Breaks My Heart”
In a recent interview with GMA News for her upcoming show My Father’s Wife, Kylie revealed how bittersweet the return truly was.
“S’yempre, I know my role in the whole series,” she said of Amihan. “But I feel sad because ayon patay pa din si Amihan, she’s an ivtre (spirit). I just really feel sad na every time I watch it, and I see my three sisters na wala si Amihan.”
Kylie had hoped that Sang’gre would give her a chance to reunite onscreen with her fellow Sang’gres, after leaving the 2016 series early due to her pregnancy.
“Dream ko na mapanood kami na kumpleto uli na hindi patay si Amihan…pang bawi lang sa mga kapatid ko,” she said referring to Glaiza, Gabbi, and Sanya.

Kylie Padilla on Single Parenting: “It’s My Reality”
Beyond her acting career, Kylie also spoke candidly about her personal life, particularly the struggles of single motherhood.
Now raising two children with ex-husband Aljur Abrenica, Kylie admitted that parenting solo has tested her in ways she never expected.
“It’s hard to have depression when you’re raising two kids,” she shared. “Sometimes, inaatake ako and they’re right there, may kailangan sila. So kailangan kong isantabi yung nararamdaman ko—wala akong partner to help me.”
She described moments where she’d retreat to the bathroom to cry, then quickly pull herself together for her children.
“Isang hinga, tapos, ‘Yes, anak?’” she recalled. “It’s my reality.”

Raising kind children and finding hope
Despite the pain, Kylie said her children give her strength. Their empathy and emotional sensitivity are what keep her grounded.
“Napaka-caring ng mga anak ko. They’re very empathetic. They write me letters… yayakapin ako,” she said.
One of her tattoos—a simple heart—represents a letter her son Alas once wrote after sensing her sadness. That moment stayed with her.
Kylie also shared that she’s on a journey of emotional healing.
“My unhealed version would say that I have trauma,” she admitted. “But I am a very hopeful person. I’m trying to forgive and forget everything.”
While she doesn’t shy away from the pain of her past, Kylie remains open to love and to rewriting her family story.
“No one wants to grow old alone,” she said. “Gusto kong palitan yung narrative ko. I hope to have a happy and healthier marriage—someone who can complete my little family, take care of them, and love them as much as I do.”
