Why Moms Should Add the Lucky Colors of the Year 2024 Into Their Wardrobes

Besides Pantone choosing Peach Fuzz to represent 2024, here are ways to add the lucky colors of next year to our wardrobes.

It looks like 2024 has released its palette of lucky colors of the year! According to Fengshui, there are three lucky colors of the year 2024: emerald green, gold, and bright yellow. Not only do they bring luck, but they also “empower” those who wear them. And the best part is, these three colors are quite easy to match with a neutral-colored wardrobe. Here’s why and how we can add them!

What Are The Lucky Colors of the Year 2024?

Lucky colors of the year 2024 include emerald green, golden, and yellow!
Left To Right: Emerald Green, Golden, Yellow

Emerald Green

Green has always been a relaxing and cool hue, symbolizing vitality and growth. As the favored color of Life itself and for the year 2024, its preferred shade is Emerald Green which represents balance and harmony. Just looking at or even wearing clothes that are in the emerald green shade can calm us down and give us clarity.

If the closet’s bursting full of clothes already, try working the color into accessories like shawls, semi-precious stone bracelets, and even shoes! What some people do is they even have an emerald green handkerchief or bandana which they style by tying it to their plain bag to spice up the look.

Golden

If moms want to attract wealth and success, go for golden colored pants! That's another one of the Lucky Colors of the Year 2024!

Golden — the color that represents fortune and success — is not difficult to style when we have golden jewelry at home. Whether they’re dangling earrings, hoops, studs, or even paperclip-esque chains for necklaces or bracelets, the gold elevates our outfits to make us look more distinguished. Cocktail dresses, heeled sandals, and even clutch bags also commonly come in an elegant golden color.

Golden hues also express opulence, creating luxurious vibes to whatever we’re wearing. Even if it’s a simple pair of golden gladiator heels or a silk scarf.

Yellow

Whether it’s sun yellow, banana yellow, or mustard yellow, this color symbolizes joy and happiness. Even studies pointed out that people are more prone to approaching people wearing colors like yellow (Shahidi, Golmohammadi, Babamiri, Faradmal, and Aliabadi, 2021).

Especially with the upcoming months of January, February, and March which usually are associated with spring, wearing yellow to brunch or even to pick up the kids from school can light up the day of whoever’s looking. Including us when we see ourselves in the mirror!

Some button-up polos come in bright yellow but most of the time, sundresses and tea dresses sport the color! Even the late Princess Diana had a bright sun-yellow dress for her engagements.

But why should moms add these colors to their wardrobes?

Besides the many superstitious beliefs shared by both Filipinos and Chinese, there is some scientific basis that changing the color of our clothes can influence the way we perceive our lives (Cerrato, 2012; Gupta, 2021). When we see our black and gray monochrome palette in our closets, it feels like we’re stuck in a routine. And while having a routine was good during the pandemic, a pop of color adds a bit of excitement to maintaining our lifestyle this upcoming year (Hanada, 2019).

Certain colors also trigger different responses in people. Constantly wearing black for example, despite it being a classy color, can also intimidate others, leading people to avoid those who wear it (Jonauskaite, Althaus, Dael, Dan-Glauser, and Mohr, 2019). To those people, wearing black means that the person isn’t in the mood for humor or conversation at times. It’s also the widely accepted color for funerals.

Especially among the traditional Chinese, visiting a house while wearing black can be seen as rude. Some will see it as a form of inviting death and misfortune into their home (Zhang, Liu, Han, Xiang, and Li, 2019). Even if white is the traditional color for Chinese funerals. So wearing colors like gold, green, and yellow when visiting is like wishing success and vitality on them.

Let the Lucky Colors of The Year 2024 hype us up!

The lucky colors of the year 2024, alongside Pantone’s choice of Peach Fuzz, follow the same theme: warmth and life. Compared to last year which had a more passionate and adventurous color, it’s like there’s a call to slow down and find balance with the progress we’ve made in 2023. Besides, the kids will definitely find the color a lot cooler and exciting for their eyes instead of the usual black.
