Maja Salvador On Giving Birth To Maria: “It’s All Worth It”
Maja Salvador, who gave birth to her daughter, Maria, last May 31 recalled the challenging moments she went through before the arrival
A week after welcoming her new daughter, Maria, Maja Salvador took to Instagram to share her experience giving birth to her and Rambo Nuñez’s first child.
In her post, Maja, who gave birth in Canada shared she went through a 30-hour labor including ” 12 hours without epidural, 3 hours of pushing—then ended up having episiotomy and forceps.” After two contractions and seven pushes, she was able to bring Maria out.
But Maja added she went through an emergency moment after the 10-minuter skin contact with her daughter.
The complication and the miracle
“I had uterine inversion. Kaya kinailangan nilang kunin sakin si Maria at binigay nila kay Rambo who was seated helplessly next to my bed,” she wrote.
Uterine Inversion is considered a rare and serious complication. According to Cleveland Clinic, it’s when the placenta turns the uterus inside-out when the mother’s body expels it after birth. Also known as Uterine Atony, some cases usually need surgery to reposition it. The worst-case scenario involves a hysterectomy — a more radical surgery wherein the uterus is completely removed.
“Three OB GYN’s were there trying to put back my uterus manually which led to blood loss of 3 to 4 liters, then my blood pressure went down to 60/40, sinabihan na lang ako ng Doula ko na anytime I would have to go to the operating room for surgery.”
Because of the loss of blood, the dancer and actress felt the loss of strength and began to pray.
“And miraculously, after their last attempt, one of the OB-GYN succeeded in repositioning my uterus. AMEN!”
Maja Salvador after giving birth to her daughter: All worth it
Maja Salvador thanked all her family members and staff at the hospital who cared for her and Maria. “Despite the challenging journey, gusto kong i-express ang gratitude ko to all the medical personnel na nandun nun, especially to the Filipino nurses who provided unwavering care and support.”
“Recovering now…Ang swerte kong kasama ko ang pamilya ko dito sa Canada.”
Maja and Rambo announced the pregnancy last December. Since the pregnancy news, Maja has slowed down from showbiz commitments to prepare for the arrival of their daughter.
The couple tied the knot twice last year in a civil wedding in February and an out-of-the-country wedding in Bali held last August.
