Why Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Shows Different Types of Families

Puss in the Boots: The Last Wish shows that sometimes, your friends and those who raised you become your family.

Everyone’s favorite cat is back on the big screen. Puss in the Boots (voiced by Antonio Banderas) finds himself slowing down in Puss in the Boots: The Last Wish. This is after he discovered that he was down to his last life. He tried living the life of a normal cat but once an adventurer, always an adventurer.

Meeting Perito and Kitty Southpaws

We all know Puss as having Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey as his family. But in this movie, we see him initially shooing away a dog (who was initially disguised as a cat) named Perito and reuniting with Kitty Southpaw (voiced by Salma Hayek), the cat he fell in love with in the first film.

Initially reluctant because all he wanted was to get the wishing star and his 9 lives back, Puss realized the importance of friendship. Despite some challenges along the way, his affection for both Perito and Kitty was more important.

Moreover, we have Goldilocks or Goldie (voiced by Florence Pugh), who was initially introduced as a villain. She, along with the three bears, were also after the shooting star. Upon seeing a flashback while chasing Puss and company, Goldie was reminded of how the three bears took her in. They treated her like family.

Your friends can be family and vice versa

We all know that the movie was based on a series of children’s books. However, their stories are far from the movie. But in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, we see that people who you meet along the way become your family. Puss, who has often seen himself as a hero and confident, realizes the value of friendship. He eventually learns to sacrifice his personal intentions.

Goldie always wanted to be with her human family. But just like Puss, she saw the value of trust and love in the three bears who became family to her. While the three bears were willing to help her and return her to the humans, Goldie chose to be with them and help Puss.

Family has always been depicted as a father, mother, and child. In the case of Puss in the Boots: The Last Wish, friends and those who take you in can be your family, too!
