1. Just a Smile Away by Jaime Garchitorena
Singer and actor Jaime Garchitorena was the voice behind “Just a Smile Away,” which was used for a Close Up commercial in 1990.
2. Closer You and I by Gino Padilla
If you’ve been humming to the lines “the closer I get to touching you, the closer I get to loving you,” then you have Gino Padilla to thank for that. The singer, who rose to fame in the 80s and 90s, sang “Closer You and I, which was also used for another famous Close Up commercial in the 90s. The song was used for a commercial that starred Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson and was performed by Sponge Cola.
3. Close in on Love by Ariel Rivera
Ariel Rivera lends his voice to “Close in on Love” for yet another Close Up commercial, which parents like to sing these days to feel the kilig.
4. Kanlungan by Buklod and Noel Cabangon
Kanlungan is one of Buklod’s famous songs that have transcended various generations. In the 2000s, fast-food chain McDonald’s used the song with the same title. It depicted a family and its generations eating in the establishment.
5. Forever originally performed by Passage
The song “Forever” was first performed in the 1994 movie of the same title starring Aga Muhlach and Mikee Cojuangco. In the 2000s, the song was once again used for a Max Fried Chicken commercial series starring Piolo Pascual and a young Isabel Oli, whose career would soon rise.
