Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Drops An Official Trailer
Sonic The Hedgehog faces a new rival in the form of Shadow the Hedgehog in the third movie!
Sonic the Hedgehog makes his return with a movie that debuts a character that reflects a “what-if” scenario. What if Sonic never found family and friends? What if the people around him only saw him as a weapon? Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the new installation in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise, reveals a new character, Shadow, who would serve not just as Sonic’s rival but foil.
If kids don’t vibe with Sonic, they’ll probably like Shadow.
Main characters seem to follow this stereotype where they’re energetic and cocky, confident that can achieve anything so long as they put their mind to it. While some kids identify with that personality, others find it overbearing and may identify with the main character’s rival. In the movie’s case, it’s Shadow — a black hedgehog who’s more accustomed to combat than Sonic is.
Shadow is a “silent character of action” — the one who always gets things done and hates small talk. His personality makes him quite a hit among teens and tweens, especially with his colorway being jet black with bright red streaks, creating a more serious look. He’s an angsty version of Sonic, rarely showing any positive emotions. But based on the trailer, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie will dive deep into telling the former’s past.
Among millennials however, watching the movie may trigger waves of nostalgia. Especially those who have played the Playstation 2, Shadow was a main character in various games which explored his identity and the moral complexity of his role. While he is not completely a good guy, he’s not a complete villain either.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Details and Release Date
Although the trailer remains mum about Sonic the Hedgehog 3‘s final release date, the studio announces that it’ll tentatively come out next year on 2025. The movie will also have actors reprising their roles such as Jim Carrey playing the manical but brilliant inventor Dr. Robotnik, Idris Elba as Knuckles (the villain in the second Sonic the Hedgehog movie), Ben Schwartz as the titular character, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails.
It’s also finally confirmed: Keanu Reeves is truly and officially joining the cast to voice Shadow the Hedgehog!
So for the kids who want something more fast-paced, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a movie worth waiting for. Here’s the trailer to get them hyped up:
