The Pink Ball: A Charity Gala To Fight Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Estée Lauder Companies hosted a series of events and talks to continue the fight against this disease.

It’s been 30 years since Estée Lauder Companies launched their Breast Cancer Campaign. This inspired a global movement to help create a world without breast cancer. To this day, they continue to support, research, educate, and give access to medical services as well as improve the lives of women with breast cancer worldwide. In line with this global mission, the company recently facilitated free mammograms and donated bio-hood machines to help double chemotherapy treatments in Philippine General Hospital. Moreover, they united with their business partners to continue raising awareness for such an important cause. This year, they had several local initiatives including The Pink Month, educational seminars, and The Pink Ball.

Spreading awareness for a good cause

To kick off their Breast Cancer Campaign, the Estée Lauder Companies partnered with SM Cares. Together, they hosted a press preview event last October 6. They invited advocates and medical experts to share their knowledge and experiences. Additionally, for the entire month of October, the SM Mall of Asia Globe, SM Seaside City Cebu, and the Time Sculpture at SM Megamall as well as several LED screens inside SM Supermalls will feature the campaign. This is in the hopes of increasing more awareness for the cause.

Another initiative was the Look Good, Feel Good event, which took place last October 7 and 8, 2022. The Estée Lauder Companies hosted a series of wellness talks for breast cancer survivors in partnership with the ICanServe and Kasuso Foundations. The talks were held at the Mega Atrium in SM Megamall where attendees also received complimentary makeup services and pampering sessions from ELC employee volunteers.

Throughout the month of October, their partner doctors are conducting educational talks that focus on prevention and early detection for all ELC and retail partner employees. And to further make an impact, they donated P800,000 to San Juan Medical Center to purchase a bio-hood machine. This helps augment the cost of chemotherapy treatment for their patients.

The Pink Ball

On top of everything, the company hosted The Pink Ball at Shangri-La The Fort last October 13. It was a fundraising charity gala for the benefit of the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Inc. The gala raised PHP 9.8 million in total from donations from the charity gala table sales, and from the evening’s auction. This will help to support 6,500 free mammograms for underprivileged women.

Modern Parenting’s editor-in-chief, Marga Medrano Tupaz, attended together with other editors-in-chief of One Mega Group. Also in attendance with the editors are CEO of AGC Power Holdings Corp Archie Carrasco, President of Mega Global Licensing Inc (MGLI) Suki Salvador, and AGC Power Holdings Corp Director of Corporate Affairs and Business Expansion Randolf Palanca.
