Long-awaited debut
GMA’s adaptation of the Japanese anime was first announced in 2020 and 2021 with various teasers. A featurette followed in 2022.
In 2023 after the New Year countdown, GMA launched a mega trailer, signifying that it will finally be shown on television.
Directed by Mark Reyes, Voltes V first aired in the Philippines in the late ’70s and ’80. Unfortunately, the late President Ferdinand Marcos banned the show due to its alleged violence. After the 1986 People Power Revolution, the show returned with its dub in both English and Filipino.
