WATCH: The Wiggles Features Filipino Nursery Song Bahay Kubo
John Pearce, known as John Wiggle leads the song featuring his mom Flordeliza, and the other members of the show
The Filipino nursery song “Bahay Kubo” is now taught by the Wiggles! Over the weekend, the Australian kids’ show posted the video featuring John Pearce, known to the audience as John Wiggle, and his mom Flordeliza leading the song.
At the start of the video, Flordeliza greets everyone and tells the story of the song.
“This song is about a small house with plenty of vegetables,” Flordeliza said. And John later leads the singing of the song as the other Wiggles move and play the instruments to it.
Promoting Filipino culture on the show
Since joining the Wiggles in 2021, John has made it a part of his mission to include Filipino culture in the show through his mom. One of the videos posted was him and Flordeliza counting in Filipino.
In an interview with ABC Australia, the Filipino-Australian children’s host said many were surprised by how funny his mom was.
“A lot are surprised that I have a Filipino mom that is hilarious and can relate to,” he said.

The banter between him and his mom is seen in the videos he shares on social media. The father-to-be is also looking forward to teaching his kid Filipino words along with his mom.
“My mom will teach him to speak Tagalog or Bisaya. I would love for my child to have a touch of everything,” he shared. ” My wife [Jessie] is Italian and I would love to bring that Filipino culture, that Italian culture.”
“You understand who you are as a person if you get to know where you’ve come from too.”
So, will we see more Filipino kid songs in The Wiggles soon? It’s not far behind if someone like John and his mom are on a mission to showcase it to the global audience.
