Why Geneva Cruz Still Believes in Love Despite Two Failed Marriages
Geneva Cruz, who was married twice, says that she has remained friends with her exes Paco Arespacochaga and KC Montero.
Some women may become jaded with love especially when their relationship fails but not singer-actress Geneva Cruz. During an interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Geneva said that she still believes in love despite her two failed marriages to Paco Arespacohaga and KC Montero.
Friends with Paco and KC
During the interview, Geneva was asked what she learned from the two relationships. “Natutunan ko na huwag pabigla-bigla sa mga decisions when it comes to marriage. Actually, I am friends with both of them.”
“Pero I really consider my second marriage my real marriage kasi annulled yung marriage namin ni Paco,” she explained pertaining to her relationship with KC.
She also said that she is very much happy for KC who is now married to Stephanie Dods and has a son, Wyatt. Looking back, she did wish she could have been more forgiving.
“Life is short and you ask for forgiveness from people you’ve hurt in the past. I think what you actually sow, you reap.”
Still believes in love
Despite the failed marriages, Geneva said she still believes in love.
“Hindi. Kasi ang tigas ng ulo ko,” Geneva joked. “Love is love. For me, I still believe in love. I am a hopeless romantic. I believe that love is the answer to everything.”
“As a 47-year-old woman, I need to love myself and learn from myself. Because if I don’t love myself enough or don’t take care of myself, how am I going to take care of my 8-year-old daughter?”
The “Anak ng Pasig” singer added that at this point, she has a best friend and that’s her daughter London. “But maybe, God has a someone out there for me,” she added.
Aging gracefully
Having grown up in one of showbiz’s famous family clans and starting her career as part of Smokey Mountain, Geneva said that despite the challenges, she is grateful for everything.
“I am nothing without our national artist for music Ryan Cayabyab. Masaya ang naging childhood ko kaya masaya akong tao I guess,” she smiled.
“Very grateful ako sa mga bagay kahit noong sobrang laki ko, sobrang laki namin (Smokey Mountain), and nag-solo ako, nag-relax at nag-asawa ng dalawang beses. And then I realized na itong mga dinaanan ko na maliit or malaki na masakit, they actually made me stronger and a better woman.”
“That’s why I love being 47 years old. Aging is not a bad thing. Aging is actually a wonderful thing. And I’m glad that at my age, I feel good.”
